Quote: BroncoBen "Leaflets were done regularly at Ealing in SL.
Players handed them out at underground stations and 15,000 were house dropped in Ealing, Richmond, Twickenham, Wimbledon, Hanwell and Greenford. It was bring a flyer for free entry.
This was done on 75% of home games. The most flyers redeemed on any one day was 11.
Why try something that hasn’t worked before?
Double headers including community clubs were good. Kids bring parents, grandparents and other family members.
The Leeds home game in 2019 was the biggest crowd that season. That day we had community games and others playing before the first team.'"
The thing with leaflet drops is that they are a relatively cheap way of marketing something. Although a DM tactic, they do serve as a brand awareness tool as well, so whilst 11 is a poor return, it doesn't mean it was a pointless exercise.
Community games were always good, but whilst the parents grandparents etc were counted on the gate, more often than not, they buggered off before the main game....
The thing with marketing is it is often the sum of many parts that delivers the best results.
