How many of the Swinton squad, sheffield squad batley are players thats have there main income around sport? Or is the suggestion that the majority of part time rugby league players are full time self employed. Think about the self employed lot, no work, no pay.
How did they all cope going to Toronto? Easy fly out on thu come back sunday, tops 2 days off work not possibly 10 or min 5 days off.
UK quarentine rules driving it.
As for how we were expected to travel as against part time and why, i understand why they went down that route, never said i agreed with it.'"
You are being very simplistic NB. Just supposing the entire 1st team squad at Swinton worked in call centres & during pandemic based at home. Would it be reasonable for Swinton to travel to Toulouse? Yes of course it would as they would be able to continue to work from home while isolating. As for self employed not working not earning, I don't think it is as black & white as that. Work can be rescheduled in many instances. In fact a mate of mine who is self employed subcontractor in construction is off to Spain next week to sort out a problem with his Villa. He has spent the last 2 weeks rescheduling the work he was to do in the time he will have to isolate. He says he won't lose out financially & for once will have time to chase up people who owe him.
The clubs have had months to work out how they can get to France with as many of their players as possible. The decision to allow p/t teams not to go without any apparent investigation of their circumstances was stupid & made clearly by stupid administrators
