Early pre-season training of what I think is our largest pre-season squad must give some optimism for a top 2 finish next season. Not a fan of rotation, I believe in playing the best squad every week unless fatigue or injury interferes.

I caught Mark McClinden in reflective mood near the end of his time at the stoop. He said that playing rugby for a living must be one of the best jobs you could have, but becoming professional meant you had to play injured which was the hardest part for him. At least a decent size squad should mean that you can take a break if you need one. What a great job to have.

I am please for Jaimie Thackray, I think he did a job for us and he hoped for another season at The Broncos . Was not to be.

Difference is a 3 month pre-season deal doesn't really give an opportunity to show what you can do against the opposition.

He certainly looks a prospect and is the right size, along with Mammone it gives the pack some weight? Lets hope they both work out, if they do and we keep Api, Barthau and Sammutt fit then things will look pretty good!

Never quite sure how the visa thing works, is this likely to present a problem and how long will it take - given pre-season has started?

You'd like to think the club have been working on this behind the scenes, hence the official announcement.

Can't see it taking longer than a month max....

Its the subject to visa bit of the statement which worried me. I realise its sensible, but we have had problems in the past........

Lad looks promising though, let's hope his visa gets sorted out ok
