Quote: Bostwick "Where have our fans gone? Well how long have you got?
I will give you one reason. GUS MACKAY. He managed to alienate many loyal and devoted fans. To the point where they walked away in disgust, never to return.
I am sure you can think of some more.'"
Some disappeared when people bought the cheapest tickets possible at the stoop and then came and sat in the club seats with the club refusing to acknowledge this was a problem to the fans who bought gold tickets. It alienated fans because they put so much into paying for their tickets and others got there for nothing.
A lot of the fans disappeared when the club decided to open one stand only and there was no area for families who had to listen to bad language and also home fans who wanted to sit together couldn't. I know of a number of families who didn't come back the following season.
The drinking fans bar bill was too expensive and some drifted away whilst others brought their own drink rather than put money in Broncos pocket then complained because DH didn't put more money in. As with his pockets I should think they are not endless just the same as fans pockets are not endless.
The RFL and DH Not allowing Ian Lennigan to carry on was probably the biggest blow he understood sports management.
The RFL not allowing a dispensation for London on the salary cap did not help as we could not get the quality of player as they did in the north - players wages in the south could go no where near to offering the life they would have in the North.
Expecting season ticket fans at the stoop to pay £40 for hospitality which was the walk up price and refusing a deduction for season ticket holders. A lot walked away from the club and didn't come back.
This scratches the surface of where the fans are
