Quote: CrusaderPete "What might have been? We were set to move there but got stitched up by Saracens and the "old school tie" brigade!
The same as has happened with Brentford's future Lionel Road Station, ie, we were approved as the secondary tenant, only to be stitched up by London Welsh using the "old school tie" forum to screw us over.
A similar thing with the Olympic Hockey Stadia', one of which could have been rented to us, but was dumped in a landfill site instead!
Sorry, CN, but your wrong, Coptal was lost NOT by any of the Club's doing, also, I suspect that whenever a suitable stadium comes up, we do not have a level playing field on which to compete!
And, although I am loathe to be seen to critisise another club, before you mention how well Skolars are doing, they are playing on the Field event area of an Athletics stadium, in the lower mini-league (expansion clubs only) in the bottom half of the third division, with an average gate of 300 odd.'"
Now far be it for me to criticise a fellow London Club but whatever you may say about Skolars we dont have to rely on a Rugby Union venue to get our games on. We also have a stand all be it with an athletics track between us and the pitch to contend with, but wherever we sit in that stand we get a clear view of all the pitch markings. We also dont have to fork out out £20 to stand pitch side in a quagmire of mud.Yes we can only dream of getting 653 at our venue unlike our Super League neighbours. Sorry ex Super League neighbours who drew thousands previously. One can only wonder where all those fans went over the years but whatever happened a wedding venue appears now to be sufficient to hold those keen enough to still attend.
