You also seem to have a very un-British "exclusive" attitude. As a fan of a minor club playing a minor sport in a minor division, you should be far more tolerant and welcoming of anyone interested, even if their opinion differs from yours.

Not really sure your extension in Hanwell and what happens at a sports ground 2 miles away have even a remote comparison, they managed to build a new school a mile from me despite nearly everyone objecting so take my example against yrs, trust me the cost of housing round here make those round trail finders seem like a bargain.
As for building a new gym, if it was never a gym before then it's a new gym, or does it have to be a new build to qualify? Using existing structure means not worrying about planning permission, just change of use.
