Sounds like an excellent and very reasonable proposal.
Maybe if a poster feels the need to repeat the same contents they could put it in their signature so other posters only need change their forum settings to not display signatures if they don't want to read the same information repeatedly.

Just a brief note to alert you that I have not disappeared altogether.
Our Kiwi poster has been banned again, however – and will stay that way until he tries, yet again, to alleviate his presumably chronic boredom by being a pest here.
And if I spot anyone else on this forum getting up to their old tricks, they'll be gone too.
