David Hughes - The Gerald Ratner of Rugby League? Discuss. Or not as the case may be.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_66844.jpg
One thing I cannot get my head round is the Sunday games issue. According to the note circulated by LBSA part time clubs (especially Cumbrians) would be unable to travel to play a Saturday fixture.
Firstly this just isn't true. Skolars have had to play two Saturday evening games this year one of which was in Cumbria (and led to a return to London at 3am)! If they can do it why can't some rather more established clubs. Featherstone and Sheffield have in recent years often played on a Friday evening which is hardly away part time team friendly either.
Secondly why are our fans less important than opposing teams. The fans have previously voted that they prefer Saturdays and we will be in the ridiculous situation of playing somewhere where the local public transport is shut on a Sunday. If I was minded to attend for me this will mean now a round trip of over five hours rather than under four hours if I am still living in the same place (as I am off to smock and straw country it will be more like seven hours). I cannot believe that most of the remaining fan base won't be similarly effected.
Thing is Sarf when you ask fans about game day they split pretty well 50/50 between Saturday and Sunday. We got this result at the end of the 2014 season when we did our supporter survey.

Thanks for the clarification. My memory on the issue is clearly faulty (although I still think the excuse of the heartlands clubs being unable to travel on a Saturday is nonsensical!)
