Quite. Some sports think big. I see that Manly are looking to play games in China. The M62 will eat its children.

I'm off to one of those games with the family where the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Superbowl champions the San Francisco 49ers. It will be a one off event as I have no idea how to play American Football. I just love the idea of all that American razzmatazz!

yeah I'm at both this year and was at the Patriots v Rams game last, which was sadly tarnished as a spectacle due to the result (extra for me as I'm a Rams fan ) but otherwise a great event. strongly advise you to brush up on the rules before you go and catch a few games on tv (sky/channel 4 sunday nights) if you can, you'll get a lot more out of it if you actually have a clue what's going on.
er the 49ers aren't SB champs though, runners up!

| Quote Rascal Bongo Stork="Rascal Bongo Stork"I'm not sure which of us is guilty of taking it seriously? But logistically it's just about feasible and is therefore open to some theoretical debate. Do you go around your local telling people at other tables to shut up because they're talking bollox? And if so have you ever been chased down the street by pool cue wielding beserkers?'"
It's about feasibility and it's not remotely feasible therefore it's nonsense. Yet some will cheer it under the "thinking big" label which generally means uncritically accepting any flight of fantasy.

Some differences:-
a) These are one-off games not an entire season
b) the NFL have some of the richest sports franchises on the planet and can afford this, London Rl has never been cashed up
c) the East coast of the USA is much closer than the East coast of Australia
but yeah apart from that totally the same.

a) no there is talk of moving a franchise to London fully, see the article and see elsewhere, it's not just hype it's being touted very seriously. here's another recent article www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/jason ... e-best-fit The general understanding seems to be that if they deem it a profitable venture then the NFL will do what's necessary to make it happen
b & c) the point is not whether the individual situation is the same but rather whether the "idea" itself is "stupid" as cited by the poster I was originally responding too. i am obviously aware that there are huge differences between the NFL and NRL, between America and Australia. the "idea" of locating a franchise in London as part of a foreign-based league itself however is not something that is so "stupid" that "only RL would consider it".

and to add to my comments:
b) the funding would be done by the NRL obviously who do have the cash, not NFL cash admittedly but more cash than London RL in its current state is familiar with.
c) Only 6 of 16 NFL fixtures a year are divisional, i.e. guaranteed to be played against regional teams (so East coast for any potential London franchise). There would be plenty of games against West coast teams each year as well, up to 8 I think not including potential playoff appearances (NFL fixtures rotate year-on-year by divisions and seedings). However, the shorter fixture list of the NFL season does work in a potential London team's favour in this case over a potential London NRL team.
