Quote: BroncOnIon "Sadly, I fear not. It's not just the Broncos who are near-invisible, it's the whole sport of RL which should be enjoying a huge publicity boost with the World Cup only a few months away. I see little sign of it.'"

As a "lapsed" Broncos fan it gives me no pleasure to see the Club this low.

The problem really is twofold: Rugby League as a sport is far too parochial at all levels so there never has been proper support to push London forward. I won't mention mismanagement by London as that's so effing obvious.

And how narrow the International game is - World Cup can only be won by the Chain Rattlers or Kiwis. Everyone knows that, so why bother with the comp when a World Club Challenge round robin with top 6 Superleague and NRL against each other would be a much bigger draw

As for the international game!! honest answer, I don't think the majority of RL fans in the UK really care about a successful international team'"

Not only many RL Fan, the rest of the country have little interest in an England RL Team, attendances this weekend will be interesting as very little seem to have an interest in The Challenge Cup, while Nigel plays his fiddle in Red Hall and keeps telling us it is the best season ever! does he realise what a complete joke he is, no wonder he never replied to my letter. icon_biggrin.gif

I am curious as to why the Challenge Cup has lost its attraction. Is it just down to the scheduling of ties and the mid season final, or is there something else involved?

It would only change things for the 150 hard-core fans the club has left. It won't for anyone else. That's effing sad.

Those hardy souls will be at Leigh, and if there is a triumph it will be for them!

On making it to Wembley, there'll be a lot more southerners there as there was in 99. A lot of whom then didn't follow the team as it was faltering in SL, or maybe they were just curious. This was then followed by a 2000 season that was below what we had experienced in SL (Second Last). We then recruited people like incumbent Origin and Test players and finished 6th.

I suspect it may attract more people, but if it's like 99, not many want to watch a crap team. Which is why attendances and long term followers on this forum have just jacked it in.
