Q.1. Because after only ten round some it would be impossible for some teams to win the title. Crowds, TV ratings and interest will drop because of this. Potential income drops also because of all these factors.
Q.2. A true champion team can handle pressure games like finals and not edge out every team in the competition during regular season games where there is no pressure. If the team that comes first losses multiple times in high pressure games then they aren't really the best are they? They best can handle the pressure.
It would be like making the State of Origin a one-game series again or turning the four nations into a knockout tournament.
