I think help is urgently needed in the coaching department. Rob Powell is probably the least experienced coach ever to take charge of a Super League club (has he ever even played the game at a serious professional level?) and he is in charge of one of the weakest squads in the competition. That doesn't mean he has no potential, but it is obvious that he is struggling to know what to do at the moment.
I don't think any coach could turn this team into title contenders, but someone with really good experience at the top level could at least advise on how to correct obvious shortcomings and repeated basic errors, and help to get the best out of the squad on a regular basis.

Unless the club has already written this season off, a 3 or 4 month consultancy from someone like Brian Noble or Tony Rea would be ideal. There are lots of other high quality Aussie coaches who could do a good job for us short term. It could even include Skolars who seem to be part of our player development set up and who also have an inexperienced coach.

Number one priority would be to sort out the Quins first team, but advice wcould be helpful at all levels.

That idea by alanw (Hello) actually isn't bad. The staff of both codes have,in fact, been known to speak to each other on occasion. Can't believe nobody else at the Stoop has thought of it. Possibly they have and been rejected due other commitments ie their own season, perhaps? But that'll be over soon and maybe the man in question would like a 'busmans holiday'. Maybe. Certainly a good shout, anyway.

PS - There was a Street Party down my way last Friday for some reason that temporarily escapes me. It was a very warm day so I wore my fave. Quins shirt. ('06 Home, since you ask). Anyway, nice neighbour comes up to me and says 'If I'd known things were going to be political, I'd have worn my Bath shirt.' Then he has a closer look,
'[iLEAGUE[/i you ba$tid!' which I considered to be a suitable opening gambit for a long conversation that involved several additional pints'n'burgers. Great fun. Vive l'Quins!

THE ONLY WAY TO GET SMARTER IS BY PLAYING A SMARTER OPPONENT How you expect to run with the wolves come night when you spend all day sparring with the puppies?:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_34025.png

Quote: Dave Lister "The difference is that Noble probably lives within a bus journey of Halifax, hence a part time role is viable.'"

They made Paul Sculthorpe travel down to award the boys try of the month at Roehampton and Boot's n' All is filmed in Isleworth I think so a few days a week would not be outrageous, but would obviously be more strenuous than a small journey to Halifax and help with their full training of just a few days a week.

Why would anyone think a coach with no Director Of Rugby experience would be able to assist a coach with little experience of Super League coaching?
I don't recall anyone except Steve Simms in the role in the UK, and possibly Tony Smith, and neither seem to have done much for the actual coaches - given none of them are currently head coaches anywhere.
Maybe David Waite could do the job, but not Noble.
I wouldn't be happy if I was Powell - the club knew the deal.
The clincher is probably cash.

"That wasn't a kick, the was a pass with his foot!" Brian Noble making Andrew Voss lose sleep:

Think he needs some help, apparently the senior players help out but he needs an experienced coach with him. Think Tony Rae would be a good idea, and i would have nothing against anyone from the RU set up helping us out
