| I wonder how much Saracens new stadium in Barnet is costing them. The venue will only have 3,000 permanent seats and 7,000 temporary ones so that the stadium can still be used for athletics. Potentially, if you had the money to purchase a small stadium, say with only 1,000 seats, couldn't you assemble some 'temporary' stands like the ones they have at Brighton football, those stands have been there for 12 years now.

| Quote gutterfax="gutterfax"Hmmm...positive statement about the club owning its own ground but realistically, even if the "land" was delivered to us for free, we would need to raise 30 million + to have a chance of building a ground. Not sure where Brentford are with Lionel road, but that ground (or the alternative towards Feltham) was going to be backed by a mix of private and council money......maybe there are stll discussions regarding that?
:'"
Just a word on Lionel Road, last week Barratt Homes pulled out of the deal that was being worked up for that. Brentford FC still exploring their options so long term it could still be an option but this is a very long term thing we're talking about here.

| Lionel road eventually just off the a4 would be fantastic ( If Brentford ever get it going) I am sure Brentford would like an equal partner.

Why? They bled us dry when we were there. It's part of the soccer club culture to grab everything and screw everyone else. They dont know what the words 'equal partners' means.

We would have to come in as equal partners and show some nuts as an equal partner but a great opportunity for a permenant home.

Far be it from me to spring to the defence of the football club I support (albeit on a largely armchair basis) but I would like to think that with a new stadium, and the club's supporter-run structure, we would be able to reach a mutually beneficial agreement with them should we choose to move there. It would certainly be a better option than others e.g. groundsharing at QPR or Milton Keynes or some bloody thing

It's all pi55 and wind until we average more than 5k anyway. To be treated as an equal, you need cash...cash comes from investors, sponsors and fans.......we have no sponsor, 1 investor who got jittery at the end of last year and very few fans.
I have suggested before (once or twice0 that to get investors and sponsors you need fans first...something I get barracked for repeating on here
David Hughes, for all his brilliant support has to understand (as I do too) that just because he (I) love (s) this game, doesn't mean that a big investor will too. 15 years of top flight RL in london and still the same 3,500 average...no growth but plenty of negatives...hardly the basis for throwing 10,000,000+ at a venture is it?

| The partner has to be a local council, not another sports club. Which is why Brentford didnt work, and Harlequins cant work long term. They ultimately can't resist charging us masses of rent as its no benefit to another sports club if we bring people into the local area or get local kids playing sport and off the streets, or raise the profile of an area. We need a 50 year rent free lease with a council owned ground which would be mutually beneficial. Or a ground of our own (which is unlikely without big investment).
Im sure we pay a huge part of our income on ground rent at The Stoop and that's no good.

Get a council ' facility ' and you'll still be no better off , unless YOU own and or control the stadium it will always be a drain on your income

Not if the council see you as an asset to the area and give you favourable terms over a long period. MK would do that, we need to find an area of London that would if that's too far.
