Quote: Prince of Denmark "At Saints yesterday the home crowd resembled a cricket crowd with polite ripples of applause and mild cheering when points were scored. '"
That's a good way of looking at it. But don't forget, the ripples of applause were for your tries as well as our own. We clapped with much gusto at two of Catlans' tries last weekend, and we lost to them.
Quote: Prince of Denmark "I get the feeling a lot of supporters of these clubs take success for granted and anything less than unadulterated glory represents some kind of crisis.'"
That's a very snobby comment and also one which reveals petty jealousy IMO. Saints have indeed been a fine team since the start of superleague and of course Saints fans have their expectations as a result. On that pitch representing my club were players, the majority of whom had played at Grand Finals and Challenge Cup finals and some of them had even won. I think if the roles were reversed and you were the club whose team were performing poorly at almost every match - and that is the case with Saints this season - you too would be disappointed because you would expect more of Grand Final winners. I don't think there is a thing wrong with that.
But it doesn't change the fact that both teams made mistakes and didn't get their respective acts together overall, and on this occasion that slowed the match down. As I said above.
