You could see part of what we've been missing so far this season by the effect that Temata had when he came on. In about half a dozen runs he made more ground than the rest of our front-rowers put together.

When we had Scott Hill on the pitch we were interesting. Average players are made to look better when a dominant, or at least effective pack is going forwards. Average backs with little momentum going forwards aren't going to create something out of near nothing opportunities.

That's why the Challenge Cup games against lower opposition are usually one-sided, the lesser forwards just can't cope, and this season I have only seen Big Lou up front who doesn't fall into that category. Hopefully Ben Jones is as good as the Bish because he may well be needed to make a few yards in a feeble pack.

We have lost from the first team squad. And we have 2x spots for overseas players (one on EU passport or equivalent).

There HAS to be some funds/desire now to improve the squad. Surely?

Super League extra time and a great number of journo's have lauded us for putting some money into marketing the club, and mention that there is so much going on in London, but that seems to have come at the expense of the first team squad.

No first timers at the Stoop will want to come back to a team of players who are at best average, at worst just not good enough for Super League.
