Why does David Hughes never say a word about what is going on at the club? It defies belief that somebody is prepared to fund a sinking ship to such an extent without seeming to give a damn about how bad things actually are.

Tough one this. If PB has a minimal budget for promotion, then it is his job to ask for this to be increased. He is the GM of the business and should know, better than anyone else, what is needed to make the club more self sufficient. DH controls the purse strings, but surely he must see that just filling the gap at the end of each year is not the way forward........he should be prepared to fork out say 50 grand as a central marketing budget, with another 15k per game, allocated at the start of the season. This (I am sure that I will get the maths wrong....but here goes anyway...) will provide a pot of around 250k for the season.
This money (and it's a fair chunk of change by comparison to what has been available before IMO) would give the marketing department buying power....in that they wouldn't be looking to get the best deal at the expense of less exposure. That said, the marketing department should not get all giddy and waste cash on London Newspapers, but concentrate on the local population......it's all well and good spending 10k on a page in Metro, but that 10k spent locally will get a better ROI in my opinion.

I believe that PB has tried his hardest this year to make a silk purse etc.......but as wire-quin has pointed out, the buck stops at the top of the food chain and that's where he is.

Lastly.....I did want the marketing job at Quins RL, but looking back at my posts from the last 2 years or so, I would think it's fair to say that I have been busy with the swan vestas beside that particular bridge

On the whole we are the most dull side in the league - even a kear coached wakey look more exciting than we do most of the time.
If all we can do is grind it up the field in one out rugby than why would fans pay to watch it. Its boring and all we do is lose.

40 people out of 55 think he should go......so that's the entire squad + 10 fans if you ask me.......regardless of:
injuries,
bad luck,
refs being bias,
no crowds to cheer the team on....

The players you say are underperforming are his players....he signed them....he signed Tony Clubb for 4 more years for Gods sake....after the worst 12 months of performance in the lads short career to date.....4 years

Sack him and at least 10 of the current squad with him. If we are going to get tonked IN 21 GAMES in 2011, I'd rather we did it with a young LONDON team...spending 50% of what we are currently wasting on average players........so there you have it....I am not blaming just him, but also the players too. I'm also blaming the management who agreed to pay over the odds in wages to the squad....I'd let them go too. In fact, sack the bloody lot of them!.........

Carry on as usual...watch the young Londoners learn from their average team mates and an inept coach......become used to losing and it being acceptable to the coach......watch the crowds get smaller, watch the club become more insular and protective of a coach that they will soon forget "why they are defending him".....and then plan your route to away games at Barrow, Leigh, Tolouse etc in a few years time......not saying we won't get a licence, just pointing out that DH has said he wants to reduce his spend......so your beloved coach will soon have even less money to waste on 2nd row forwards and we will finish in the bottom 3, in the first 3 years of the licence system.

Yes and McDermott is in a completely different situation to the other coaches we have had in Super League. Why do you refuse to look into the reasons why we are struggling, instead of placing all the blame on McDermott? It's naive and ridiculous.



I don't blindly defend him, did you not notice my thoughts on the topic of Clubb's 4 year deal? Neither of us know what happened with regards to Clubb's 4 year deal, I doubt McDermott walked up to DH and demanded a 4 year contract club, I imagine it occured after negotation between at least 3 different parties.



Are you blind? I have presented several reasons to keep him, but from your PC chair in New Zealand you somehow manage to dispell points to do with our on the field performances. Stats do lie, simple as that. We haven't been battered every game this year, and we haven't been completely inept. Plenty on here will support me in saying that in recent weeks, our low completion rate has killed us - you can tell me all you like that McDermott somehow causes these knock-ons but he doesn't, and don't give me any rubbish that he should be instilling confidence in the players. Read what I have said more carefully on this thread and on others.



Three completely ridiculous and negative options then. I can't believe you wasted 5 minutes of your life typing those out. And people used to slag me off for being negative about the club, this really takes the biscuit.

How about people stop whining, and let the club build as best they can for next season? They aren't stupid, and will move to improve the club, but it won't happen overnight and sacking the coach would just be ludicrous. Just out of interest, what RL coaching experience do you have that qualifies you to state that McDermott is "inept"? Are you aware of what he does in training, and the instructions that he dishes out to the players?

I personally believe there have been no less than six inexcusable performances this season. The Warrington away massacre, Leeds away disaster, both Hull KR thrashings home and away, the Salford home game and Wakefield away thrashing. I was there in person at all these games.

At the start of McDermott's tenure all three of Salford, Hull KR and Wakefield were either near the relegation trapdoor, soon to fall through or playing in the championship.

Salford have beaten us on three of our last four visits to the Willows and in these three we averaged a try per game whilst they have beaten us at the Stoop the last two visits. I count 3 wins out of 10 v Salford by McDermott.

We have not won once away at Wakey in his tenure and have about half and half at home. Hull KR have thrashed us in 3 of the last 4.

I genuinely believe McDermott has the worst win record of any active coach in Super League and is in the bottom ten for all Super League for wins.

We have got worse under his tenure and there is nothing better to come

In today's RL Express, Stevo comes out in support of Brian Mac, his column is headlined "McDermott is needed in London" He goes on to comment: "The former Bulls tough guy was a major target by Bradford, showing that his good work in London hasn't gone unnoticed." Later on he states: "I just hope that McDermott wants to stay and finish his job with the Quins. He has done a wonderful job in bringing youngsters into his squad."

Mc Nabanana removed from his post at the Bulls today!!! Could Mac be on his way earlier than expected-if at all!!
