| Is a candidate for new coach according to the examiner.
Perhaps a risk but in my book one worth taking (if he's interested).
The guy is am out and out winner.

| Well it would be typical of the Giants to go for a cheap option.

| Why would we want to even consider Sinfield. He's ex Leeds, and we hate anything and everything Leeds. I don't know if he would be any good as a coach, but we have just endured 5/6 years of rubbish in the Examiner and won the Hubcap under Mr Anderson. Sinfield has probably won more medals on his own than the entire Giants team combined for the last 70 years. I think I see the point, what would we be wanting with a winner like Sinfield, Delete him from the list.

Just because a he's won medals doesn't necessarily make him able to be able to get others to do so. (Schofield, macnamara, long, Goulding)
Experience in winning is all well and good- We need someone with some experience in coaching to be able to get is in the position to be able to win.

Yes I agree with you jools, we do need someone who can motivate the team, and Iv'e heard it said Sinfield was very good at that in the Leeds side, Don't know if it's true, I just find it comical that fan's who used to say PA just needed time , and all the rest of it, are so quick to dismiss Sinfield.
I have no more idea than you if he would make a coach, but I agree we don't have time for anyone to learn, we need a proven man.

| I wouldn't be disappointed with Sinfield. He's a winner and a proven leader.
He's also probably as qualified and educated as every other coach in Super League with the added experience of being involved with a team that plays right through to the final game of the season.
For those that say good players don't necessarily make good coaches - that's true. But sometimes they do!

Somewhere in the dust of time rest the bones of the Galilean
He who was spat upon. He whose face was marred beyond all human likeness
Somewhere buried among the lies of the past rests the tomb of Yeshua
Of he who was made God in a world without Hope.
And when this son of Joseph is found. What then will the Church of Rome say?
Prepare yourself for the day is coming. And men will say
"Blessed are the wasted lives who perished in the flames of the holy war": |

More than a proven man we need someone with no emotional, historic or professional investment in the club.
We need someone who can say x player needs to go irrelevant of where they were born or how long they've been here.
There is far too much sentiment involved in decisions made by the club. Far too many "old boys" who are tainted by the failures of the past.
Unfortunately I suspect we'll get someone who won't rock the boat and is as conservative and reactionary as the management.

I agree and would look at Geoff Toovey .The cold hard truth is we are looking relegation in the face and we need a coach that will be prepared to ruffle a few feathers and kick a few butts if needed,Toovey fits the bill.

"Huddersfield -The Birthplace of Rugby League"

| Like Iposted on the other thread though any debate we have is total supposition
Yes we all have our faves but if they havent applied or were on a "wanted" list by KD and co Id lay bets the package would not be in budget
I aint getting wound up cos whatever will be will be and we wont know whether it was the right choicefor about 12months In our current state that could be too long to wait as a NO-COACH would then really have got us binto another trough
But as much as the statement good players dont always make good coaches the always is paramount
Noone is born a coach -or any other position
knowledge gained and the ability to convey it and get people to act on it comes in many shapes and forms and most on here Jools / dg /dee et al will have undergonebtraining inn various formats
Sowhilst many decry such as Sinfield Drew DeVERE and the like- in their careers they surely have accumulated varying good and bad tactics under a number of coaches. The big question is whetherthey are able to use it for the better of a team they control --but hey thats the same in any job and without being given an opportunity its an unknown
Its yet to be proven but inversely some who stick by that theory are positive about the choice of Wayne Bennett for England But he plqayed at a high level ! Tony Smith isgenerally accepted as a GOOD coach but IM O didnt exactly set the world alight with the england squad
No -as stated the proofs in the pudding and how the chosen one assembles a squad who work together with him and for him At one club he can be a blinding success - but at his next a failure
So the squad is the defining factor here and at the moment for reasons unknown outside the dressing room walls it appears there is no pride /passion or whilst it sounds romantic --no togetherness
Whover KD choses and for whatever reasons he is going to have to be something special to get our 17 playing as though theyre prepared to battle for every point and look as though they enjoy being on the field together. Its not apparent in any way at the moment Though people are now pointing to Jerrys poor points Ipersonally never thought Id see less than 100% enthusiasm but frankly even he seems to look p--d off at times and who wouldnt with our constant failings WHY is it so --the fans can only base it on rumours and snippets but it WOULD BE NICE TO KNOW But the new fella needs to grab it by the throat and quick - whatever his background GOOD LUCK MATE!

That sounds like a load of sense.
