Firstly we all slag off the ref for going to the screen too often so perhaps it was brave of Bentham not to in this instance as was suggested by James Lowes on Radio Leeds when I was driving home.

However the only plausible camera behind the sticks I've just watched it now, clearly seems to show the drop goal should have counted.

So was it brave or stupid ??

Had he not used the VR so often during the game for minor incidents as well as try calls I could have taken brave, moaned and moved on.

But unfortunately for Phil and the RFL his error of judgement has been seen by an awful lot of people on National TV and could have cost the Huddersfield club a lot of money.

I hope that he is stood down at least next week maybe for two as Alibert was for allowing seven tackles in a game if not the RFL leaves themselves open to ridicule !!!

Should the refs be fined for wrong decisions? If players can be fined for the wrong tackling technique then surely referees should be fined for making the wrong decision when the technology is there to be used.

ref made a mistake?....but didnt broughy have a couple of chances of scoring a drop goal in front of the sticks?...did that mistake in missing not cost us?..or ferres getting sent off?..its a game and we lost out on a close call, refs arent perfect but neither are the players

Whatever happened to "Benefit of doubt to attacking team?" If he was in any doubt at all, he should have asked for a second opinion or, failing that, given B.o.D to Broughy.

Looking at every available camera angle, the ball was either over the post or over the upright. Either way; the goal should have stood. To come up with a decision like that on nation television when the technology was available was an insult to our game.

The technology is not good enough Sky decisions often prove inconclusive and there was no definitive shot of the drop goal. Until there are enough cameras in the right positions, one at each side looking straight down each try line for example I think it should be scrapped and we just go with the referees call as we would in non TV games.

There wasn't a single person or camera in a better position that Bentham at the point the ball went over the posts, at the base of the left-hand post, looking up. I can't imagine how Ian Smith would have coped with trying to work it out, given the differing camera angles, and the impossibility of working out when it had passed the posts.

I agree it looked a goal but what's the distinction between the post and the upright? Aren't they the same thing?!

if i had been at the game i would have had a totally different outlook i believe .its much easier to be relaxed when far away
from the action

bentham should be stood down for 1 game at least.

warned people before about him when he refs our games but i just get shot down...seen for yourselves again...child's is not far behind him
