| Good signing again. 4 year contract is generous, but probably a good move. It'll secure his future and allow him to become a leader within the squad.
I think he'll surprise a few people and will offer what we need in the squad.

| Quote: Code13 "With Brough approaching retirement this could be a shrewd move
Gaskell won't have the issues he obviously had at the Bulls and definitely does have the pedigree to make it in the top of the game
Could be an excellent tie in with Brough, Gaskell and Brierly now with the latter two representing our long term future'"
Could be good for the future when Danny retires, but what about for now, will Rick try him at full back or centre, only other option is maybe Ryan to full back and Lee in the halves, although RS doesn't appear to like this option of Ryan at FB. My concern is the 4 year deal, surely 2 years with options was the way to go

It maybe peanuts as Lee and his agent wouldn't have had much bargaining power, SL clubs were hardly fighting over signing him, but 4 years is a gamble we didn't need to take, as I say go for 2 years with options, as if it turns out to be a bad signing then the peanuts have still to be paid for the full term

| Presently I see the squad like this:
1. Gaskell/Brierley
2. McGilvarry
3. Cudjoe
4. Wardle
5. Murphy
6. Brough
7. Brierley/Gaskell
8. Rapira
9. Hinchliffe
10. Huby
11. Symonds
12. Lawrence
13. Taai
14. Roberts
15. Mason
16. Smith
17. Leeming
18. Ikahihifo
19. Clough
20. Ormsby
21. Jacob Wardle
22. Dickinson
23. Sam Wood
24. Mikey Wood
25. Jared Simpson
26. Liam Johnson
27. Darnell Mcintosh
I then expect:
28. Matty English ...To be promoted
29. Izaac Farrell ...To be promoted
Dale Ferguson & 2 more signings 1 of MUST be a full back.
If 1 of Gaskell, Brierley or Brough gets injured we have no cover presently, Unless Murphy goes to FB then Ormsby on the wing. Would be nice to have direct position replacements rather than have to move a few positions about.

Not what Mr Thewlis has said. Quote - "At the time we secured his signing, Lee Gaskell was probably the most sought-after UK-based player in the game."
He doesn't actually say he was sought after by SL clubs and I can't see many people on here believing him anyway!
I can't say I've seen much of him so can't really comment.

the deal was done a long time ago, gaskell was 2015 player of the season in the championship , thewlis says that he was the most sought after uk based player

| well the bradford 3 signing is starting to become true! well dont thewlis/anderson, have to feel for stone abit with his hands tied
but
i think gaskell will prove to be a good signing, he has bags of talent, was the 2015 player of the year in champ and everybody was after him, we secured him...dont forget we wanted him when he was at saints too but nathan brown didnt allow it and he went to money bags salford and played well for them too.
competition for brierley and brough in the halves... can also play full back and centre
intresting!! look forward to seeing him show his undoubted class.
hes played in a grand final too for saints!
and dont forget how most felt when we signed supposed crock rapira

| Underwhelmed to be honest, if we don't get off to a flyer, I can't see it being any better than this season!

Out of the three Bradford lads Gaskell is the one i am happiest with, I can see he would make a half decent replacement for Wardle ( if he is still leaving ) and also cover for the halves, But 4 years! Some one at the Giants will just never, ever, ever learn, I don't know who told Thewlis a lot of clubs were after him, Probably his agent, but he forgot to mention they were championship clubs.
Anyway i agree with Brearley you have to feel a bit for R Stone, first 3 signings, all championship players who used to be S league, that's the way to strengthen. Still he may be able to inspire them , Who knows ? Onward and upwards.

And I just wonder who may have been after Lee, no rumours ever from fans of SL clubs, maybe top Championship teams, whatever he is now a Giant and I for one hope he can reproduce his early potential and also the 2015 championship form

Huddersfield, Hull and Leigh made firm offers
Hull was too far for him to travel as he did not want to move his settled family from the St Helens home.
Castleford made enquiries but Shuttleworth played ball with Giants and Hull around the April/May time.
