You can take it how you want today - but as Ive said to a mate (who might not now go down again in the foreseeable) in 62 years a fan this was as far down as Ive witnessed --even when we were struggling for survival and there were only a few more on the terraces than there were on the pitch!!
In those bad times the club and its few diehard fans were in dire straits --and the team most weeks on a hiding to nowt--but I`ll tell you summat ---they didnt throw the towel in !!
and thats what hurts --!!
If it was just today --then it could be classed as a blip !
But Salford / Edinburgh / and today have I feel been indicative of some underlying prob
Plus the errors re Hodgson`s leaving and the timing of the announcement
But what saddens me most is not missing out on another Wembley visit
Its the "manner" in how it happened --and all the other erosive events
Has it not occurred to anyone else that Nathan might be a bit "edgy" and miffed that he HAS lost his captain /man of steel. and Mr Consistent??
Might this have happened because the "1 year" deal was based not on fitness or ability but purely financial
Some of our other "strengthening" might be a little below our ambitions and
his shopping list??
And as such -- he might feel that promises made when he got the job havent been fulfilled like the Whitehall mob we`ve listened to regularly lately!!
Just a thought!
A few more things sicken me!
DG and Faraway make regular trips of nigh on 200 miles to watch their team and have done for seaons
Theyre proud of their allegiance and rightly so
But in these depressed times to spend their hard earned cash travelling to Edinburgh and the Galpharm to watch PROFESSIONAL ???? sportsmen play with so little pride passion and skill is an insult to their devotion
I felt that at half time last week --we were in with a chance
--not so
I felt that this week, at half time, the game was probably out of reach --a game that a trip to Wembley hinged on !
Did that not provide enough incentive to these fellas??
In a one off game like this -- what would they have to lose by coming out for the second half and throwing it about
If Wires had intercepted and scored --so be it --it couldnt have been much worse
but hell ...................give it a go and ..............and if they`d got somewhere near they might have gained some respect
Instead - it was down the middle boredom
They were playing a cup tie -on TV -and representing the claret and gold ...................................and showed as much fire and spirit as a sleeping tortoise
We were considered (by such as Phil Clarke) as a side who had raised our image and made great strides
Sadly last week and this the image was tarnished and the strides for me were backwards
and whatever the reasons , which the poor fans may never get to know,...................it sure as hell sickens me !--- probably KD----and many many others I fear!!!
