Surely when SL fixtures are worked out, we know when Town are playing except for cup matches. Then we can fix our fixtures in any clash for Fri/Sat/Sun before the fixtures are published. It still annoys me changing for football, but is it the FA that will not shift and not Town in shared stadiums.
It must pay though to share costs of the stadium rather that seperate grounds, we just have to get on together.

There wasn't a clash though that's the issue.

Quote: brearley84 "it was never requested, when the fixtures were released it was already down for thursday...catalans have a game monday too like us, play it on a friday and they have flights involved dont forget , player welfare comes into it and will have been agreed long time ago

hope that helps'"

OK cheers. Seems our Friday night was scuppered by the fixture planners.

The rest by Sky and one by Town.

So much for Friday night is Giants night. Less than half home games on a Friday.

If Town make the top the problem is likely to become worse and that will always effect the Giants. The Wakefield chairman spoke a lot of sense the other week when he talked about RL trying to be the 2nd major sport in the North. This is what we need to focus on and work together. I have been very critical of our marketing and commercial efforts but I think we are finally since Eorl was appointed ,starting to wake up and try and move forward, we have been really trying in last few weeks which is great and with the efforts so far on the field the club has a much more positive feel. It is hard though when fixtures are continually being shifted ,no easy answer!

If I remember correctly, back in the 60s when I was a nipper we played Saturday rugby and usually Fartown and Town played home matches on alternate weeks. My late father was an avid supporter of both and took me down to watch them. I seem to remember the Fartown HT score coming up the the Town scoreboard, usually followed by a cheers or load groans, mind you Fartown got decent crowds in them days. It can't be that difficult for the RL fixture experts to ensure we play home matches on alternate weekends seeing as the football fixtures will have been out months before our fixtures are. Same goes for the FA, they know when our last few home games of the season are. Mind you, that's asking for a bit of common sense and then we've only got our Sky paymasters to contend with. If Fartown, Town and the powers that be would get their heads together surely any future fixture problems could be reasonably solved and the groundsman would have a far easier life icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif
Surely it can't be that hard but I won't hold my breath icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

Quote: Big Eorls Blouse "He's answered that before, and it was because he didn't have the money at the time in 2003 as he was still building a business...

Ken as a businessman to be fair, is very smart - I give him a lot of credit there. He used previous HTFC chairman Terry Fisher, Martin Byrne and a couple of others to front the bid to gain popularity, and as soon as it was completed, dropped them completely. People forget there was another viable bid on the table from a consortium fronted by a chap called Paul Haigh. Did Ken save the football club? Yes. Would it have gone to the wall if he hadn't? No... Because there was another viable bid.

Ken's purpose in buying the football club was to protect his interest in the HDone project, the stadium and in turn the Huddersfield Giants, and you know what... Fair enough. I've got no problem with that personally, and thanks to Ken for stepping in. But (allegedly) financially draining HTFC for his other interests? ......

I'd never call a football club a viable business, especially one who's debt had risen from 1.5m to 7m despite zero playing investment, and one of the lowest wage bills in the division, and one who'd had their greatest asset stripped, and then lumbered with debt and interest payments towards an asset they didn't even own anything of.

For all of the great work Ken has done for Huddersfield Giants, his tenure of HTFC was not particularly great. The thing I'm most thankful to Ken for is that he agreed to sell it.

As a Giants fan, I'm delighted at the on field progress and him turning a normal Championship club into a top end Super League side, it's just a shame that the crowds aren't coming. Hopefully we can put all of the above to bed and look at a future whereby the district can get behind both teams - and Town fans really have to get over themselves if the sole reason that they're not coming is Ken Davy.'"

Quote: hxgiant "Couldnt agree more with the comments above. I support both clubs and believe me a major factor in Giants crowds declining by about 2k is tied up with the stadium share issue. A lot of Town people who are also Huddersfield sports fans and importantly major business owners will not support the Giants which is a real shame. The facts are Football is bigger and especially at the moment the gap is massive. It would be far better if we all got on but sadly i cant see it happening and the Giants are the losers.'"

looks like wigan have now fallen foul of the football league too!

that game was even going to be screened on tv too icon_eek.gif

you would have thought they could play on the sunday...

anyway its not being played at widnes, talk about a farce and short notice

something for the giants to get used to i feel

wagner complaining today in the examiner about the pitch at huddersfield and the chairman has brought in extra lighting to help the grass grow

No- Wigan went about this in entirely the wrong way- didn't get an RFL official to inspect the pitch as they should have.
Wigan didn't even consult with Widnes at all-the reversed fixture was an obvious suggestion but Wigan didn't consult- I reckon the just wanted to recover from the WCC.
All credit to Widnes for getting the game on at theirs at short notice!

Land of the GIANTS:

Does anyone know the ruling re parking, l am a member of the KAL gym, l have been told l must be in the car park 4 hours before kickoff (Town matches obviously) or l will not be allowed in, even though l have my members card, l am told this also applies to the cinema.
ls this a public right of way?(Dalton bank entrance), and can these stewards bar you from entry?
