| Very convenient - I agree its for all to save face - 'gardening leave' I reckon.
Half decent player, hopeless leader of men.
Should never have been a captain its about time he has been relieved of his duties as his performances have been woeful for long enough - if you don't want to play for us you'd best leave.

Looks like he is injured and dropped!

Brown nears Giants exit
19th July 2012
Huddersfield captain Kevin Brown has almost certainly played his last game for the Giants.
The former Wigan Warriors stand-off, who is to join Widnes Vikings from 2013, has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats with an ankle injury and does not figure in new coach Paul Anderson’s plans for the rest of this season.
The no-nonsense Anderson spoke of making changes when he gave his first press conference at the Galpharm Stadium yesterday.

Has Eorl been under performing all season? No he hasn't. I like it how every man and his dog knows who's injured at the giants. It's a pity the coaching staff don't know this so they could rest the injured players and the squad could be rotated to utilise the injury free players we have got on the books!!!!
Not saying rest every player whose carrying a knock but something's got to be seriously wrong when the previous coach was willing to play the captain who now has miraculously got an injury that will see him miss the rest of the season but was ok to play beforehand. Truely amazing!!!!!

| Quote: the stella kid "He hurt his ankle at the start of the season and has been playing with it heavily strapped ever since.
It may be the sort of injury that wont get any worse but is unlikely to go away without rest or an opeartion.
As for playing injured players all teams do it. You only have to look at the amount of players who wait until the end of the season before they have an opeartion.
If Kevin Brown has been playing through the pain barrier it kind of makes a mockery of all the comments saying he has not been trying for the last few weeks.'"
not only this his bicep was heavily strapped for the wire game...another injury

| So he is not fully fit and not wanted, does that mean he ends up playing for nobody for the rest of 2012?
I can see the sense of him not being allowed to go to Hull as a rival top 8 club (I would be surprised if he would want to, just to see out the season, but hey you never know). We may not be in a position to complete his transfer early and if you released him he would become a free agent anyway. I suppose you could loan him to us for the remainder of the season. We dont play each other again so no problems there and we might be playing a few of your rivals (Hull certainly).
Alternatively he gets his ankle properly sorted and readies himself for 2013.

It's common knowledge about eorl-it was reported he was due to have 2 ops after his England call up but only had one due to our forward injury issues at the start of the season- hes deferred the other till the offseason.

| looks like anderson has gone the route of well hes not in my plans for next year so might aswell forget him...is gilmore going to get the same treatment then?
whatever, its a blow for us to have such a talented player missing.
and not the best way to treat a player who has given everything for the Giants over the years.

I don't think this is a blow or disrespectful. Kev (and Gilly) have been great for the club and they go with all my best, but this is about Baloo taking the Giants forward and players who won't be here next season by default can't be part of the process. I also question whether we'll miss Kev at all considering his form this season (even taking into account the positional arguments about his best role). Think this is the correct decision by Baloo and a great signal of his intent to drive the Giants on to new heights.

| Its not writing off a season, its salvaging it.
Kev and Gilly have been poor all season, no two ways about it. Given Kev's a key player, if he is below par then it impacts on the rest of the team. Even if he was fully fit I'd have thought it best to let him have a week off to let the new regime bed down.
As for Gilly, he hasnt been playing good enough, in positions we have plenty of cover in, so why persist?

| Do you really think that Baloo is only planning for 2013 and saying 'Let's put this year behind us and start again next year'
Absolute tosh.
Sir Ken would be really pee'ed off if we gave up on the chance of playing two or three extra matches in the playoffs, just to get a few players bedded in to their new roles
Gilly, as we have been told on countless occassions, has had a lot of input into bringing our outside backs up to speed, so why not continue that process for the remainder of the season?
As for Kev, the lad must be totally bewildered by all the negative posts aimed at him from this site. He's given his all for the colours and I will always remember his try against the Stains and that beauty of a kick to give Leroy the chance to show Wellens a clean pair of heels.

| No one at all is arguing that he has given us great service, and has been an excellent player in the past.
However he hasnt had a great season at all, almost certainly due to his change of position to loose forward, a role he definately isnt suited to.
This has hampered his game, and combined with his intention to leave the club early has led to dramatic fall in form for him. Poor decision making, poor passing, poor defence and I am sure he himself is aware of that - just as I am sure he has done all he can to rectify it
That said, the club has to move forward and build for the future - and thats a future without Kev and Gilly, both of whom can be replaced with players in better form and with a longer term at the club.

| Why does dropping Kev & Gilly mean writing off this season?
Our season is currently only going one way anyway for starters and, secondly, if we are going to revive our season we all need to be pulling in the same direction and that would be very difficult having a captain/ex-captain in the side whose leaving at the end of the season. Surely asking players to give their all to earn their place in Baloo's plans for next season is more likely to produce results than playing 2 out of form players leaving at the end of the season.

| Dont think its a bad thing at all - Kevin Brown's performances on the pitch this year have been shocking, regardless of how long he's been here or how nice a guy he is he wasn't doing his job - The new boss has come in and has decided he isn't going to tolerate people not performing so he has chopped him.
Surely dropping one of the worst performers will IMPROVE the team ?
I think Baloo has laid down a clear marker to everyone that if you dont perfomr your out regardless of who you are !
