| Well no one can blame Grix for this embarrasing shambles of a game, Leigh did there homework well and targeted Mgillvery as they know he goes walk about from his defensive position , Connor as usual was rubbish , and of course a lot of fans were asking ,,, why no Brierley ???

Personally, speaking as a Leigh fan, I don't think yesterday would have been a good game for Ryan to play in. I think things would have been far too emotional for him to play. The players would certainly have singled him out for special attention, as apparently did some of the "fans." I hope to goodness that the stories of abuse he suffered are not true. Whatever the circumstances surrounding his departure, folk have short memories - he was a hero at Leigh for three years, but the time came, I guess, when he just had to move on. Ironically, his departure (and Chase's) probably contributed more than anything else, to our eventual success, as we managed to get Josh Drinkwater - and his partnership with Ridyard has been sublime.
Having said that Ryan shouldn't have played, I would question the continued selection of someone (Connor) who seems very keen to depart from the Giants!

He's not as keen to depart as Hull FC make out. But I agree he has little reason to wish the Giants remain in SL. In fact if we were to be relegated it would solve some of his problems for him.

| Fantastic first post, absolutely hit the nail on the head.
Not sure I would manage to put it so well if I could get in the dressing room with them after that yesterday.
The late surge of points papered over some cracks and I fear that may feed the bad attitude amongst the players. Yes it was a bad 50 minutes, but that 50 minutes was part of an 80 minute game,so it was a pitiful performance. We were extremely lucky to get anywhere near them by full time and there should be no papering over it and no positivity given to the players over their 'response' in the second half.
It's all been said. Their jobs aren't on the line, just means their agents will be busier than expected over the coming weeks/months. All whilst our club potentially slides away from where it fought so hard to get to. And the majority of the 17 guys with that in their hands aren't too fussed.
It's just so sad.

I just wish I could have all the money back I've spent since we came back into superleague- I'd be able to pay off my mortgage and Maybe even have enough to put a deposit down on the house next door!

id like to keep the likes of brough, roberts, cudjoe, mcgillvary, taai for sure... likely prob keep one if we went down

| Smith started the golden era, but now the golden decade for huddersfield (which consisted of a solitary LLS and a couple of CC finals) is over and it's time to be relegated. Bouncing back quickly is key and gaining promotion straight away is a must. However under the current format this will be abit more complicated, before it was simple. Keep most of the squad together for a season in the champ, finish top/win GF against inferior teams - job done. Now it will require overcoming multiple battle hardened super league teams after a seaosn of playing champ rugby which is rather more tricky.

| My message to the players
I have been watching the Huddersfield for over 38 years from Fartown to barracudas shuddersfield and Giants.
in that time I have travelled all over the country to watch them play Fulham, Kent, Whitehaven and Perpignan.
I have spent thousands of pounds and thousands of hours driving all over the country.
For years I have driven up and down the A1 so much so that I know it like the back of my hand.
In that time there has been 30 years of failure punctuated by a few highs. A couple of promotions two challenge cup appearances and a LLS.
There have been four good years in Sl.
The rest of the time it has been a litany of failure. Huge losses 60 70 or 80 points drubbings.
Travelling away when less than 30 fans would go to away games.
Games at home when only a few hundred attended. Years of being SL,whipping boys.
In all that time I have put everything Into supporting the club. Hoping one day to be able to say I saw the Giants win something.
Not living off a history that is in the record books so long ago that hardly anyone c'an remember it.
I. Have exerted so much emotional energy and passion into supporting the club. I have been angry frustrated saddened and depressed rarely ever having any positive emotions.
My eyes are full of tears as I write this because I feel the same as when I watched my mum slowly dying of cancer because that is what it is like watching the Giants now.
Slowly watc/hing a loved one die. Knowing there is nothing I can do.
I no longer have the energy or emotional strength to watch .
I texted my sister who went to te game that I was so nervous I could not watch.
Then I did start but after 15 minutes it became unbearable. I turned the game off and deleted it. I could not bring myself to watch it anymore.
I have just cancelled my sky sports. I cannot bear to watch the Giants anymore. I need to hide away because I cannot face what is going to happen. I just want the end to come quickly so I can move on with a new chapter of my life. One where I do not have to put myself through the depression of watching more failure and disappointment.
To enjoy my 50,s and time with my kids as they grow up.
This probably means nothing to you judging by your performances this season so I don't expect anything to change.
All I would hope for no matter what happens is that wherever you are next season you can turn around and if I see you in the street look in my eyes and say you gave everything you had .
How many of you could say that now ?

| A great post DG.
I think the club should email it to every player.
RL players are a special breed. They are Secret Mercenaries. The hurt they go through on the pitch - well they should earn as much as they can get so I understand from where they come from.
It so happens that players from Giants, Devils & Rervers are looking ahead to next year and many will have signed deals with other clubs and tbh its clear who they are in those 3 clubs.
Nothing we can do to stop the parasites (agents) to put new contract ideas to their clients but for this old timer it stinks.

| All posters echoing what I posted on shambles topic after the game --so hear hear
- so not gonna bother typing out again !
As jools said -she (and family have been watching/supporting longer than some players have been living
Similarly it appears DG Costin Jumbuck Boomer and other "old codgers" have been supporting (and allegedly moaning at" ) the team longer than Jools hasbeen with us!!
I repeat again speaking for myself (after all the stick weve received0)it aint moaning - its being realistic about some of the outright "let-downs" weve suffered over 50 plus years and the hope that "next season" we may put it behind us instead of now slipping back into the "pit"
If it hurts her - just think what we are going through!!

| blimey, most of you seem to be throwing the towel in - not a pleasant situation I appreciate, and have followed Leigh for over 40 years so know exactly what you are going through.
But there is a lot of rugby to go yet, and no reason why you can't stay up - you are more than capable of beating the other SL teams in the mix, you certainly have the individuals to do it.
Chin up and get behind them, Leeds may well be switched off a little now they are safe - either way I reckon you have every chance should you end up in e MPG.
Good luck for the rest of the season and beyond

I've been watching for twenty five years.
But my granddad used to tell me when I was a kid that his dad took him to matches around about the time of the Team of All Talents.
The Giants/Fartown are a big deal in my family. Well over a century of support across five generations from my great grandfather to my kids.
That's why I am not disappointed by the effort the players and staff have put in this season, I'm disgusted.

Cheers, one here who hasn't thrown the HGRLFC towel in.I look at it this way,the MPG while I hope we can yet avoid it,is one more chance to survive.I hope we could get home advantage for it somehow.
Congrats to Leythers btw - deserved promotion.
