To say that it was our first proper run out for the 1st team I was very impressed, Tackled very well (looked weak on Jammer and Cudjoe's side at times), this aside looked very strong.

Attack wise felt we looked very sharp and were not afraid to try things, last season teams moved up quickly on us and we were all screaming out for a little short kick or chip over, tonight Robbo tried it and Fatz scored.

Brown was relatively quiet but think he will have a good season, Frog put some big hits in, Gilmour looked sharp and seems to hit the gap just at the right time.

Even when we changed things round and brought some of the so called younger ones on we still held our own.

ATEOTD anyone watching would not have know which team had played 0 friendlies and which had played 3?

Very good turnout from the C&G faithful too a014.gif , and the shirt aint too bad as a away strip (could have been worse!!!)

Looking forward to Friday next week now, Bring it on!!! eusa_clap.gif k020.gif

If that is what we are capable of in our first pre season game then the omens for the rest of the season look good.

Firstly we looked a lot fitter than Cas. Only fa alogo to me looks like he is still away from match fitness. Everyone else looked great. Raleigh did 34 minutes at prop in the first half .

Secondly their seemed to be a lot of aggression from the players and they seemed more up for the game than Cas did.

Some very encouraging signs.

Hodgsons kicking was flawless.

. Some great defence from Cudjoe.

Robinson looked fantastic. opportunist try. Went 55 metres but ran cleverly to keep the defenders at bay. tackled like a trojan. My MOM.Set up the try of the game for Fatz. A lovely little kick on the fifth he re gathered then set Fatz away. He left Shenton ( England international great defender for dead) i am not sure if fatz ran over him or what but as fatz was putting the ball down Shenton was sat on his arris thinking WTF was that icon_lol.gif

Griffin looked like a man possessed he ran in so hard was superb.

Raleigh and Eorl worked hard. But Patrick stood out for me. seem sto have bulke dup in the close season. Last year i said he ran above his weight . This year his weight has caught up with his effort. look slike he will not be out of his depth in SL.

GIlmour. Class, class, class. Our wide defence looks better with him on the pitch. Got a great try running a great line. Will be a great addition to the team.

The whole pack looked and played with more mobility. Is this due to new players, new tactics, responding to the new changes in the laws. Probably all three . I think we will be stronger defensively this year and will not get caught out wide as much.

LUNT was superb. distribution, tackling and the usual try from 2 feet out. ( we should try to make him run 10 metres for at least one try this season).

Josh griffin got a good try after a good attacking kick not sure who by. However griffin has really bulked up seems to be catching up with his big brother. will not be in the backs for long.

faiumu's running from dummy half was excellent made really good yards.

I Feel a lot happier about the Giants now than i did this time last week.

Well done to the club for hopefully keeping things right on the pitch even though there have been some difficulties of it.

I thought we were very solid tonight and well in control of the game. The support play was a level up on last year - even Daryl Griffin made one or two supporting runs. Only a pre-season game so you can't read a lot into it but a good hit out and no injuries which is always a bonus - onwards and upwards as they say.

Fartown played well and bossed the game. We'd won the battle and taken control in the first half convincingly and looked really fit, strong, organised and well prepared to say its our first hit out in pre season. We looked solid in defence and direct and aggressive in attack. Until we made wholesale changes in the second half we could have and should of had more points. With Wild, Drew, Mason etc to still come in to the team it looks like another good season for us again!!!!
Don't rule out another top 3 finish at least!!!!

Up the Giants!!!!

Are you sure that was Shenton and not Ryan McGoldrick? Wrong side for Shenton.

I think it was Zeus rather than Shenton, as Shenton can tackle!!!

It looked like it was Cas 1st run out tonight but how much of that was down to the Giants great defence?

I would say 50/50 split of that plus Cas's inability to keep hold of the ball and force some pressure.

Horne looked alright. Has piled the weight on in the off season looked really big. A good jinking run towards the line in the second half just stopped short but lost the ball when he tried to off load.

Did not notice him to much as was watching out for other players.

Looked OK the bit i noiticed.

Good luck to Huddersfield for the coming season, you looked very well organised and fit ahead of the season. Griffin was the man of the match for me.

I think i will be having a little bet on Huddersfield this year...
