| He needs to bulk up- that will cost him speed- if he's not a kicker or an organiser what does that leave him with as he ages?

| The beauty of RL is that it is a game for all whether you are an 18 stone barnstorming prop, a stocky hooker, a rangey second rower, a pocket rocket half back or as Brierley gave a great step, lightening pace off the mark and awareness of gaps. Whilst he will naturally bulk up through a full pre season he does not necessarily need to do so at the cost of losing pace. I think he is underrated at the moment - as an example the try he set up for Leroy at KR showed most of his best qualities and not least his awareness of support to pass to after first drawing the FB and being brave to suffer the inevitable hit as he delayed the pass.
Will only get better and for me a Brough/Brierley combo is dream halfback pairing.

Bulking up doesn't mean you lose speed... In fact, it could make him faster and more powerful.

So would i mate ,but it was Mick Jones who used to create havoc in the goalmouth and sniffer who was quick enough to snap up the chances.

Why does he need to bulk up, he will built up naturally, The trick is to retain the speed, There is no law says you have to be overweight and slow to play for Huddersfield. However as he is not a kicker or an organizer he can't be good enough for the Giants, Much better to stay with our pedestrian options.

| dont think brierley needs to bulk up either
he may not do as thats his build anyway

What do you mean be built up naturally- he isn't 17!!!!
All I'm saying is that just being quick isn't good enough- it wasn't good enough for Kevin penny first time round, it wasn't good enough for dale cardoza, Paul white or that skinny blond lad who came from aus who's name escapes me at the moment but was awful.
They get found out if all they have is pace. if stone is at all a decent coach then brierley should offer more than pace next season.

| He is a massive threat through the middle regarding support play and speed. Something not many teams have in SL, especially the speed.
Giants need to teach him how to be a better half. He's only 24 after all. Already a very good passer, too.

1638.jpg How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.

I'd agree with this - simply being quick is not good enough.
However, as I'm sure we can all see, there is far more to Brierley's game than just his pace.
He possesses a good awareness in both attack and defence, and can combine the two - how many others score interception tries for us? - and it is his combination of pace and ability to read the game which has made him such a successful support player. He can throw long passes to the left and the right, as we saw most recently against Hull KR (where he was involved in all four of our tries). He has a good rugby brain - and I'm not sure one can say that with as much confidence about Kevin Penny, Dale Cardoza, Paul White or the aforementioned mystery blond. You could even add the fastest of them all, Dwain Chambers.
He is not by any means the finished article, he can be quiet in matches, and was particularly quiet in the second half last week. But his pace, his support play, his ability to read the game, his ability to beat a man and the quality of his passing suggest that he has a real chance of making it in Super League. Whether he lights it up or not in 2017 I don't know, but I'm sure he'll offer more than pace next season - because he's already done that in this, his debut Super League (not full!) year.

Sounds like any other player put into fullback then
Brierly would be an excellent fullback but is a better half back
There are many players like that
