| Go to the game Jools, while I agree with you that "Last Son of Wigan" appears to be a bit of a Saddo, you know as well as I do that most Wigan fans are decent folk, as are most RL fans generally.
There is just something about a bit of success that brings out the bad side in a minority. In fact I dare say there will be a few of our own doing similar after we lift the Challenge Cup in August!!!!

| Quote: wigsey "This is the same nonsense that Leeds fans were spouting up until 2013 about not caring about the league and peaking for the playoffs.
In reality the playoffs are a cup competition and as such any team in them can win, albeit that they are supposed to be stacked towards the higher finishing teams.
Was Wigan's winning of both Trophies a fluke. No but equally there were plenty of moments where fate was on their side.
In the CC Wigan played Leigh, Hull KR, Widnes,London and Hull. The easiest path to a Challenge cup victory ever. The games may not have been flukes but the draw was.
In the Playoffs they peaked at the right time. Everyone was trying to do this and Wigan did it best it. But did Shaun Wane want to go into the playoffs in the shocking form Wigan were in. of course he didn't.
In any event all that is history. let's see who has bragging rights at the end of the season.'"
Some interesting points here.
Playoffs do resemble a cup comp, the knock out element at least. Wigan did peak at the right time, surely that's the goal, to peak when needed to go on and win the GF, which Wigan did. This isn't fluke, and even with peaking it did require to be the best to win, Wigan beat Hudds, Leeds then Wire to win the GF, a difficult run and one that really did see Wigan finish the best team in the comp and worthy champs.
If Hudds were truly the best team they would have beaten Wigan in the POs they didn't, if they were the second best team they would have beaten Wire, they didn't manage this. Yes Hudds won the league but when it came down to it they fell short twice, Wigan rightly so were crowned champs as they beat those in their way.

Saddo? Grow up. People are discussing RL which is what the site was designed for.

It would seem you're more interested in an argument and making things petty, I'm not. So I won't be responding to comments which refer to me as a big fat troll etc.
I prefer to chat about RL with RL fans, regardless of team.

What will your excuse be this year when you've won sod all?

If Wigan don't win anything because they're not good enough then there's no excuses, someone else will be better.
Same for any team, like how Hudds weren't good enough last season.

Feel free - have an AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH on me.
Here's to a belting game. First game of season - let's both put on a show for the SKY audience. May the best team win.

Wane admitted getting it wrong that year.
PS what has this got to do with a) Wigans success last year and b) Wigan having a better season and being better than Hudds?
same answer to both... sweet FA.

| It's nice to be mocked by these so called "big clubs" fans and shows how far we've come since winning the 3rd division title in 1992. A meaningful trophy is coming ever closer to the Giants and opposing fans can see this, that's why we get the odd few on here spouting off.
We won the LLS last season which meant a great deal to the club and us fans, that was a right monkey off our backs and shows the steps we've taken since getting back into SL for the 2003 season. We have now shown that we mean business and have the squad, ability and solid foundations in place to win trophies and be genuine title contenders.
It's not like Wigan have been tearing up SL since it started is it? They've only won 3 Grand finals and for the size of club Wigan are and money that's been pumped into them it's pretty abysmal.
As for last season, there were 3 trophies up for grabs and we won 1 of them which is a step in the right direction for us and shows we are improving. I bet there's plenty of teams who would swap places with us if they could do. We'll do well again this season and have a genuine chance of winning any of the 3 trophies on offer, people on the outside will not be shocked by this and it just shows how far we've come over the years. COYG!!!

| As far as trophies are concerned.
Since and including 2010 when Lenagan got the coach he wanted in Mcguire Wigan have won a trophy each year.
There are three trophies a year to be won and over four season 12 oppotunities to win silverware. Wigan have won 6, Wire 3, Leeds 2 and Huddersfield 1.
That's why Wigan fans feel confident about this season. We may not win anything but at this stage we are pretty confident.
As for the LLS I rate it. Finishing top of the League means something to me and silverware is lifted for the winners. Wigan headed the League for some time and at one point were five points clear of Wire who were then 2nd. After the Cup Final form went down the pan.
It did show though that come the play offs the team were up for it. Having lost at home comvincingly to yourselves and Leeds the team won equally convincingly in the play offs.
Looking forward to tomorow night. I'm sure the best team will win, it usually does.

| Exactly!
In previous years other teams fans have accused hudds of being inconsistent- no mention of playoffs- last year they were the most consistent side in the competition. So they've found something else to have a go at.
What it boils down to is certain Wigan fans aren't confident of a win so are getting in their excuses early.
Either way it matters not- if we lose- well using their logic it's because it's an unimportant fixture we aren't bothered about and are using it as our second friendly before our week off. So I don't expect said Wigan fans will be on here doing any bragging after........will they............

My comments were about last season, nothing else. Hudds aren't as good as Wigan. They might be one day, but currently Hudds aren't a genuine threat, as much as you don't wanna hear it, it's true.

I agree with this. Currently Wigan are the best, like it or not. And likewise I do want a return to the league=champs format. I rate the league, when it's set up to mean something, with the playoff system you can finish way down in the league and be crowned champs by the end of it. Until this changes we can only go off who wins the GF as that's the pinnicle... along with the CC.
