Just seen the highlights .

Hull two forward pass try's and one from at best a tackle that was a penalty to Giants.

Good to see some mental toughness to get the win. That's what they have lacked in the last couple of years.

As Andy Murray proved today mental toughness is a massive part of sport.

Great is ukuma- really pleased for him. Last few games he's come to the crowd and shook hands etc rather than applauded from afar. Bumped into him and family at the supermarket and he made time for my lad. Seems a really genuine bloke.

Quote: GiantDee "Just watched the Ellis tackle on Sky Sports News. He did not use any arms and made contact with the head with the top of his chest. It was not a shoulder charge as such, really a strange challenge with both arms out like a crucifix, I think he just completely mistimed it, on one showing not sure if Robbom changed direction or if Ellis thought he was about to, but any contact with the head is a penalty deliberate or not.

So, it was a bad challenge but not malicious, it should have been a penalty, that wasn't given. Ellis should not be suspended, he might get a caution which always seems daft when there doesn't seem to be intent. Seems like one of a number of things the officials got wrong today, both ways. The truth is somewhere between the Anderson and Gentle perceptions.

At the end of the day, rather than getting embroiled in a Giants v FC fans arguement both sets of fans should agree we all deserve better ref standards.'"

Believe me, he wouldn't have mistimed it. He goes in like a wrecking ball most games, smashes with the chest and wraps his arms around. It is a completely fair and legal challenge. Ridiculous to say it's contact with the head, not Ellis' fault that Robinsons head is the same height as his chest! He went for a ball and all tackle, Robbo got the worst of it.

Was a great tackle.

Nothing wrong with it.

You need to learn the rules. If you connect with someone's head intentional or not it is a penalty.

I would say 90% of the time the head of the attacker touches the defender at some point in the tackle. As I say, Ellis went for a ball and all bear hug type tackle, Robinson's head connected with his chest. Great hit.

As I said earlier re watch the Saints match the Gardner/Mullaley incident and listen to Stuart Cumins explain it and why they disallowed the Giants try and gave Saint's a penalty !!!!

Yes seen that explanation. Contact with the head is a penalty regardless of intent. I am not saying further action should be taken against Ellis. What I am saying is the try should never have happened as it was a penalty to the Giants

And it's still not as bad as the incident in the play off's a few years back when Carvell nearly decapitated Paul Reilly and the ref said play on and Hull score. That cost us the win on the night so not the first time this has happened

Still say its a perfectly fair tackle? Right shoulder contact to back of head is bad enough- but his left hand is above shoulder level too- as for using Robbo being small as an excuse that's pathetic! Robbo can't do anything about his height but defenders can adjust their tackle.
Maybe if the hull players bent their backs a bit they wouldn't have lost so many this season!

That shot clearly sees contact to the head a penalty, simple as that, it does not matter whether Ellis does this type of tackle all of the time, its poor tackling technique. Gentle said in the news conference that Anderson better have a look at the VR, well I'm not sure PA will have changed his mind on what I have seen in Jools freeze frame, or the highlights in the SL fulltime show.

He's lucky he did not make contact directly with the shoulder as that's a ban, and he may get away with a warning.

Given that the try should not have been given, and on the matter of tries, both of the other Hull tries are from very blatant forward passes.

That two of the Hull tries were from forward passes can't be helped. These things happen all the time. What is frustrating is that the ref managed to pull us up twice for forward passes when clean through, and dissallow a try in the corner for what? another forward pass or a knock on? Poor game but I'll blame the heat for players and officials performances...And both teams with an eye on next week.

well we found a way to win yesterday just like wigan and wire did previous...again a sign of a very good team.

wasnt pretty from us, we were playing with two make shift props (faiumu and taai) for alot of the game, crabtree i thought was great yesterday. and so was the magic man danny brough who ended up getting us the win!

some really stange decisions from the officials yesterday though much in hulls favour..

- grix tackled in the air yet hull get the penalty
- grix tackled high in the in goal but ref just ignored
- robinson knocked clean out to the head, but play just carried on, thought if it was a head injury play was stopped?
- we kicked a ball in to touch but briscoe went for it and touched the ball yet hull got head and feed at scrum?!
- briscoe tackled near touch line, tackle complete then he stands up and puts foot in touch, hull pen?!

anyway we got the win, onto the cup now!!!! hope robbo is ok which i think he is according to lunt, anderson was fuming

miller pushed ferres and celebrated winding him up so ferres went after him... then everyone piled in. nice to get the victory after that icon_biggrin.gif

add to that list brough getting the ball in our ingoal area - a hull player knocked it out of his hands one on one - perfectly allowed - but it went forward ref called a drop out from under the sticks.
