| Quote: fartown since 1961 "Chan is a very good player but not a top dollar earner and not a marquee signing ala LOD.
We have had better value from Jason I agree and along with Brett Ferres offers one of the best second rows in the competition.
However for all our big pack we still need a real hard man/enforcer because we have been bullied a couple of times this season and I think we could fix this for far less money than a 'name' half back who just ain't out there !!'"
said it many times we will miss a LOD on the pitch for us, class act.

Who else was really in for him??? Can not see Saints being too fussed who they loan him to as he is out of contract at the end of the season and surely not going to be with them next year.
My bet would be he will be at somewhere like Leigh when he signs his next contract.

He's not good enough for Rochdale on this seasons form.
Crusaders made him look very ordinary and if he does not buck his ideas up every team in SL will do the same and he will disapear from the scene.

| I also remember Lunt not being good enough for the reserves! Some players need to be playing alongside the best to play at their best.

| Quote: adamhuddsgiant "Just a quick thought about money and we have or don't.
Pre season we was on the hunt for an established player to partner brough it don't happen so Money not spent there.
Brown went ferres came
Faalago went Taai came
Eden, walker, molloy, went fielden came
Mason went Koppy came
Connor, miller, kruise promoted
Then lod went
So I would say from that lot (educated guess) that of the cap was to spend we would have some brass to spend from the wages of lod but not all ofbit as I recon fielden will be on a large sum but there must have been Money from the half back hunt?
Don't think we should buy anyone go with what we have got and promote from within. Davey should not have fund players like lod, faalago, Simpson who we don't get out what we want of them over the term of their contract. Also the acadamy lad and younger members of the first team cost a lot less, they don't perform ship them out and look to the next crop of youngsters. We need to get our own lads through the system to save brass in the long run!'"
Also released Gilmour who would have been on big money

| Sarsfield, peltier, Orwell and tonks were all also on the payroll at the beginning of the 2012 season. Those wages won't be paid this year. Bet we were paying Simpson a fair bit too.

Tell me why he was not good enough at Rochdale as the Rochdale chairman disagreed with you when he wrote
Quote: espanyolswan "I find it incredible that people who are actually paid to write about the game couldn`t tell that Gaskell wasn`t stand off. But as I have already mentioned sometimes prejudices can blind people to the facts.
Bad as that was it doesn`t compare to the drivel spouted by Martin Sadler.
Now Martin is the editor/boss at League Publications, the owners of the Rugby Leaguer/League Express, Rugby League World Magazine and TotalRL website and forums.
It could be argued that Martin is the most influential journalist in the game because of the sway he has over the Rugby League Trade Press.
But after the Oldham game Sadler wrote that Lee Gaskell had been sent to Hornets as a punishment and that he had had a shocker as a result.
He wrote this even though he never attended the game, hadn`t watched it on DVD, hadn`t spoken with the player, hadn`t spoken with the coaching staff of either Hornets or Saints, or anyone from the board or office at either club.
Poor, lazy journalism like that doesn`t do the game any good, and it isn`t conducive to a healthy debate on the subject of duel reg.
For the record Lee Gaskell was not due to play for us at North Wales, but took it upon himself to attend Hornets training and make himself available. His attitude impressed the coaching staff and, coupled with other players not being able to train it was decided to select him at centre, where he scored two tries and was a stand out.

| Just glad he did not inspire Rochdale that day as it virtually ensured Cru make it to Halifax on NR Finals day. He was tetchy and more bothered at referee baiting than showing what he can do one try came on the back of 2 penalties on the tryline and the other was a breakaway try when Crusaders stopped for a knock on and fair play Gaskell played to the whistle. He was nowhere near the stand out player on the pitch whatever their Chairman might think and to be fair if I was him I would be fuming one that Crusaders have taken a few of their best players and gave them a lesson with 3 Saints players along for the ride against a team with no dual reg players and mostly players plucked out of the amateur game. If Gaskell proves a hit at Salford fair enough but on the evidence of the two occassions I have seen him play this season it seems he is not the wonder player most on here think he is and I think those going tomorrow may well have their illusions shattered but as has been said perhaps playing with better players he will get back to his best......I just can not see it happening with Salford and who will take a chance on him after that is anyones guess.
