I may well do that bilko ,Ive threatened for years to stop buying one but then i still end up with one, Even if i don't ill not miss many games i don't think.

To be honest I'm beginning to feel a bit like i did when Brough came to us, he was obviously a class act but for a few seasons he had a strong pack to play behind, Sezer looks to be the same quality and with the bit of mongrel we have brought into the pack I'm feeling quite optimistic.
We do need to be a bit luckier with Injuries than we have been for a few seasons ( if it's been bad luck altogether ) and i'm hoping that a couple of our forwards who would have been great in the 60's get pushed out by some of the youngsters, We really do need to start and play a better style of football than the dross we have descended too if Sezer and our young backs are to be given a chance to shine, Up to you Mr Woolford but sometimes a big signing can just be the Catalyst to make things work.

The other cause for optimism for me is the depth of young talent that we have coming through, credit where it's due the club have made big strides in that area. With all the fuss over Sezer this new young lad from Leeds has barely had a mention, He sounds like a lad with a lot of potential to me , but as i say on here regularly it really is all about the coaching, So welcome to the Giants both new men.

I have not watched much junior/academy rugby this past three seasons Jo so I cannot comment on Trout but what bothers me is if he is that good why would Leeds want shut? If as you say we have more luck on the injury front we may have a better season.

Quote: hxgiant "You nearly right Jools but while Leeming got interest from Leeds as his mate and other quality young player had left , the final straw was a fall out with our MD at a pre season meeting. He now sadly joins a long list of quality players who have left due to poor management.

At most serious Super League clubs today’s announcement would have been met with derision anger and protest. To attempt to hide the loss of an England 9 in a swap deal with a young hopeful in a press release full of irony would have been mocked. At the Giants with the shambolic organisation and history of amateur gaffes no doubt he will once again get away with it.

It would be hard to think of anything that would suppress season ticket sales before the upcoming deadline even more , except possibly announcing that your major Australian signing had backed out or perhaps your chairman and owner had aligned himself to a minority political party in the Town , instead of focusing on the new season which is only a few weeks away

Then again .....'"
Have you read the Examiner with regard to Leeming HX I BET IT BROKE YOUR HEART !!!!

Just no.
I hate this- stick a decent player in another position. All this talk of holmes etc. No- get a (or preferably don’t push out a damn good) hooker!
and I’ve seen nothing at all to suggest golding should make a decent hooker!

Have you seen anything to suggest Holmes wouldn't.

From what iv'e read here and there bilko , I don't think Leeds particularly wanted rid of him, they just wanted Leeming more, They have been messing about for a year or two now with Hookers, i thought Parcell was ok but he was obviously not suiting .

But what about the players that didn't come to us as hookers who have done a great job there...
Remember Luke Robinson?? And he's not the only one.

In fairness, in my experience hooker is probably one of the easiest positions to transition into (and to coach) and any half-decent half should make a half-decent hooker nowadays

Jools I agree, however he has played there for Leeds and Jamaica and played very well, for me he's our first choice FB, he will do very well there defensively.
However if the team is more balanced with an attacking fullback and Darnell is in form, and Butterworth doesn't make the cut at hooker, then we have a very capable back up in Golding

It’s not about butterworth not making the cut it’s about having just two specialist hookers and two teams to field. We get an injury to AOB and if things stay as they are that’s potentially a (nother) scuppered season.
I get what your saying about robbo-but he was a seasoned player when he switched with bags of experience.
You reckon saints would start the season planning to switch a rookie half to hooker because they’d sold their best one.
We need another specialist to see the season right.

Agreed its important to have another hooker, I had wondered if we might have made an attempt for the young lad wire signed from Widnes a couple of years ago, Danny Walker, limited game time for them, would fit the bill of a good young english player and if Wire will release him he shouldn't be too much on the cap.

Or maybe we give Woolford an £80k payrise and bring his lad over on peanuts to save some cap?

I know Trout is listed as a second rower, but I had a feeling he turned out for Leeds at hooker a couple of times, anyone else heard that ??
