| I'm afraid, though the old colours do have the associated tradition, they don't really lend themselves to being anything other than a playing jersey IMO. They don't go with blue or black jeans or pretty much anything in myn(limited) wardrobe. It's tough to find any clothes I have that 'go' with it. IMO that's a pretty important consideration these days, you need a jersey that people can wear while they're on their day to day business as well as when they're going to games. I can understand why the modern shirt mixes the colours up a bit.

| TBH Baron i only ever wear my shirt on matchdays anyways and know most of the people i go to games with do the same so i cant agree with your argument there, in fact i dont think anyone i know bases the purchasing of a replica shirt on whether it will 'go' with other items they posess - but i do see your point as some will.

| as a jersey claret and gold is great, as a leisure wear item i think it isnt the best...polos/t shirts are best for mine in black or white...the new shirt isnt great but its made much worse for me by that "lightening strike".the club has to cater for new fans and us old fans who prefer traditional colours, this years offerings meet these credentials , so we should not complain too much

These Corduroy trousers are available in Claret or Gold. I think you'd look quite dashing with your C&G top on too.

| On matchdays I wear a replica shirt but during the week i'll wear other Giants merchandise which tends to be claret/black or grey. TBH i don't see many SL shirts out in the street but lots of T shirts & coats.

I might not wear those fancy jeans with the really low crotch but I'm still too cool for cords pal!

You see quite a lot of Rhinos jerseys and all sorts around my neck of the woods. I think they need to be wearable in a social context, especially if he club wants to sell itself to the public of Huddersfield.
Thats not to say there isn't a place for a traditional shirt.... I have one myself.

I was quite young but remember our fine old stadium very well, I had some very very happy times with a lot of people who are still my friends today. No one is "stuck" anywhere, everyone has differing opinions on shirts etc etc and everyone who pays there money is entitled to that. you will not please everyone but the club have listened to supporters who like an old style jersey and made one (after Crackers did the spadework and showed how popular they would be) A lot of recent shirts have been traditional, some havent, but hey ho, you either buy em or you don't.
I bought one of the retro jerseys from Crackers and it was excellent but I also have many origional ones as well as well as some of the more modern efforts and some I like better than others but so long as it has the Coat of arms or the Giants logo I will wear them all with pride !
As for fans "passing away" thats a crass, ill thought out and horrible thing to say.

| well said dan! friendships were formed in those dark days at fartown for us still "stuck" in the dark days and none of us would change it for anything.
i hope when i do pass away my loyalty and contribution to this club will be remembered.
we could have quite easily walked away when another season ended without a trophy like many do today but in those dark days thats not what fans did.

My original view fella --and as Daz says - all for wanting a trad shirt ! Wow what a sin !
But as me, Daz, and Swag have already had the good lords special permission to watch the lads a little longer -- its quite amusing in a way !!
Can only think Peter Pan didnt stick enough pins in the doll!
Personally I can only apologise for holding the Giants back all these 65 years !- or at least since their conception !
.......................and one final point -- if records are correct -- Ken Davy is a year older than me !!
Wonder how he feels when such love (and agism) abounds amongst the fans eh !!
