| Quote: Jo Jumbuck "I know what you are saying here jools, but I don't agree altogether, There as been nothing to stop Breirley playing every week since he came, Only P Anderson, and he's gone now, Who says besides PA that he has to be a Fullback. I know you are saying Stone will have to sort them out, and you are right about that, But if he goes down the same route as PA, I will be badly disappointed.
Stone needs time to assess them properly, but we need to win games now and keep winning them in the 8s. If we are adamant that Ellis is going to play " come what may " then put Breirley at fullback and leave him there till the end of the season, lets find out if he is any good. Personally I would play Ellis at Hooker, or even LF with breirley in the halves. but I am not Stone and I don't really care as long as we keep a settled side and start to win some games.'"
Gonna be interesting to see what Rickster thinks the best positions are for players like brierley, connor.
Anyone who went to east hull knows that Brough is now a natural 9,after a great career in the halves.

| Steady Sheepridge --you`ll be introducing ideas ! - but thanks for endorsing the "Eden" theory
So all this praise for Walmsley & the "big boys"--and we want to put Ryan in as the last line of defence against such as him!
The mind boggles ! - for all the heart shown by tough nut Robbo theres ample evidence of what can happen.- and remember the last "half back" with mammoth potential we "MOVED" there -nuff said
We want him to LEARN to be a full back in a team thats currently in the basement with a vital 7 games facing us for SL survival . (generous to a fault arent we !)
We have a man of steel/ half back / strategist/tactician now pencilled in ( to learn ) to become a hooker (though Brearley would have him stay where he is) -If however he moved it would leave space for Brierley in the halves and hey ho we then could have either Leeming or Kyle at full back ?-or even Hinchliffe?
Seems posters are at it now as well . "The Giants Strategy" Lets just write names on bits o paper and draw em out the hat
We are in a serious situation - but not so serious it would appear to some that a recently introduced new coach has time to "experiment" and try different players in brand new roles. Would be fascinating to know what Ken`s take on the situation is?
Its gets more and more like Alice in Sunderland ........................... -- but certainly more entertaining than this seasons rugby has been , nevertheless!
Cant wait!

| Memo to self !
Dont do posts in joined up writing
(but seriously -- feel free to request clarification on any particular point /or total content )- No problem !
You have at least read it it appears
Will disect recent post later for discussion but to summarise
1 Think Brierley`s talents would be wasted and scuttled at full back in last line of defence (as happened with Chris Thorman) (IMO)
2 Whilst some positional changes HAVE been forced on us by injuries / suspensions agree I think there also been a tendency the club for a while to try convert players into "utility players " too hastily which meant that a consistent relationship and understanding between team members on field gets "lost"
IMO we are a critical stageof the season and its landed on a new managers plate to try resolve it with limited knowledge players individual skills and attributes , and much will depend on the information he receives and how its presented to him --hardly ideal situation in the present "do or die" circumstances IMO
But - I stress -Just my opinion! It is after all a "discussion forum I believe. Hope that helps fella

Brearley at FB was PAs idea - stone may not agree but the issue is he's stuck with him in our squad- and we don't hzve a true FB apart from Simpson who hasn't shown he's ready to make it at SL. Personally I don't think brearely would be any better from a defensive POV at half back, as he's going to be exposed wherever he plays due to his (lack of) size. What we have missed has been a FB who can chime into the line and create something different- and I feel brearley is THAT player.
We may well see a miss matched side again this week due to more injuries. However I would hope come the middle 8s stone will have made his mind up about where players should be playing. If Brearley is not to be our FB I just hope stone has some money to play with because I'm not sure we will have much room on the cap!

| Can't really compare Ryan to Thorman. Chris was great attacking wise, just useless under the high ball which teams knew and exposed.
Ryan seems to be solid under the bomb and doesn't seem shy to put himself about. Anyway, time will tell I'm sure

Kruise has played 15 times this season- which is pretty good going for any player in our squad this year!!!

You really don't like Kruise do you.
Better than Wood (who trys hard but is at best average )and a better Hooker than Hinchcliffe who is clearly a back rower being played out of position
