| Order of priority i wanted the giants to win things
1. challenge cup
2. Grand final
3. LLS
We've missed the CC and the next one in timescale is the LLS - ergo I want us to try and win that next
If we win it or not, the next aim is the Grand Final

Now there is a very interesting question.

| It only doesn't mean anything to fans of clubs who have won loads, who are probably getting bored of seeing their club win things and see it as a minor thing to their club with a been there, done that attitude towards it.
It would be like us trying to convince London Skolars fans that the Northern Rail cup doesn't mean anything should they be in a position where they could win it.

Most SL fans wont have even heard of the Buddies Cup.

| The LLS is the most difficult to win.
27 rounds and the team that finishes top is the most consistent and the best IMO.
The C Cup is a knock out comp and is entirely different.
The GF is a SKY TV concoction that has had to be bought into to keep SKY on side as their money is essential for SL's survival. This is why the GF is so high profile. SKY TV give it loads during the season and give the impression it's the only thing that matters. It isn't to me.
I buy a season ticket every year to watch league matches. Those SL matches are important to me.
The LLS is massive, the problem we've got now is that the two finals are given such priority that we are given the impression the SL means nothing.

Great post , nail on the head - certain fans of certain clubs have been brainwashed by SKY into thinking that the GF is ALL that matters - surely as a fan every trophy matters or what is the point in following a team ?

| But Huddersfield is a football town. Surely, then, the potential fans the club wants to attract relate success to a team that finishes top of the league, rather than winning some end of season knock-out tournament?

But the clubs embrace the GF (and form their season around it). You may well prefer the league. You may well believe that the team that finishes top are "worthy" champions. It doesn't matter.
The clubs objective is the GF.
You cannot say that a team that finishes first after the regular season "deserves" it more than one that finishes second, third, fourth, since those other teams could very well have had different results in the season had the objective been to finish top.

| If anybody see's a 6 foot tall Giants fan with a bald head and glasses looking Forlorn and miffed off before the game on Friday, please buy him a pint to cheer him up!
The guy's a bit depressed cos he went for his tickets today and came home £72 lighter!! 2 adults, an 8 yr old and a 4 yr old, I must say though £15 for a 4 yr old is a bit steep, especially when all their U12's get in for free at our place.

That in a way is true but how have Town been promoted in their last 3 promotions? Play offs!

| Haha don't let Wigan fans rain on your parade. Great achievement for your club if you do go on and win it.
Wigan fans just bitter about how last season turned out.

If Giants could finish top - it would be the first time since 1932.
Have a look at this article about Giants history if you are in any doubt that this actually means something to finish first....

But it's not the same. In 1932 the whole competition was about finishing top. In 2013, especially under the current rules, there is very little difference in finishing 1-4.
I appreciate that getting in the 4 is a great achievement for Huddersfield. I don't begrudge you that for a moment. However, the reality is that finishing 1st is not the same as winning the league.
I have said this many times on the Wigan forum.
