| nice of the rovers fans to finally join in with this thread!
they celebrated like they had won the grand final and fair play to them, they shouldn't have been anywhere near to getting a point, but we were terrible, absolutely dreadful in attack and defensively sound until the last minute!
as for bentham and his cohorts, they were absolutely apalling, every minor indiscretion by us was pulled up,yet rovers were never once made to get onside, they were more guilty of lying on and messing around than we were and yet were allowed free reign to do it time and time again, wardle was sinbinned but yet both sides were penalised for exactly the same thing and no more yellow cards, whilst not blaming them for us losing the 2 points that was our own doing for giving up the ghost at half time, but the officials were only interested in pinging one team today and the game was refereed differently for the 2 sides.
again, credit to rovers for their fightback and never giving it up,but deary me they should never have had a sniff, that 2nd half was the worse 40 minutes of rugby league i've seen for a while thanks to the giants p*** poor effort and the officials.

agree, although as i said it was our own lack of effort that ultimately proved our downfall, but the officials were abysmal, and rovers could probably have shot a player today and got away with it.

| What have we done to Bentham?
I think Rovers actually won the penalty count today which is absolutely bizarre. It's legal to knee a guy in the head when he's trying to get up now, apparently, so long as the guy you knee has a C&G shirt on. And then he penalised US for laying on! It was a complete farce. The brawl was his fault; I firmly believe that.

I think you're a little over the top squire, but then, despite the fact I've lived in Huddersfield for longer than I lived not in Hull, ( East coast, terrible, was lucky to escape over here) you've got a slight point.
I can't really comment on Bentham, from behind the sticks it's difficult to see.
However, I do think you were your own worst enemies today, you had us by the throat and didn't go for the kill. You looked to play your sets out and make us come ninety metres.
You didn't finish your breaks, I'd be very surprised if you hadn't made a considerable many more metres than us.
Basically , I think you put your cue in the rack and we were fortunate to sucker punch you at the end.

spot on with that dan, the brawl was all down to benthams inability to spot anything illegal from rovers, ferres wanted a quick PTB,which he had every right to as he had won the collision, bentham shouted held yet the rovers player (poore?) kept grabbing hold of ferres, a simple toot on the whistle for not moving away would have seen the situation over, but he then let players pile in to what was a bit of handbags that escalated.
the one that amused me was that we had been crucified for messing around all game, but yet when cudjoe couldnt get to play the ball as rovers hands were all over him, it was leroy who was penalised for moving off the mark!
absolutely bizarre performance, i think somebody must have run over his dog or something...

i agree totally with that, we basically thought the game was over at 24-6 and stopped working, although our goal line defenc was superb at times, we had given up by the midway point of the 2nd half which, along with benthams crazy decisions, gave you confidence which enabled the spirited fightback.
i think all in all rovers will see it as an unlikely, but very good point gained?

| Has anyone heard the BBC post match with Sandercock's explanation of the heated moments? Have a listen; makes a change for him not to be crying like a girl for once! Haha!!
ATEOTD we should have been out of sight. Bentham or not, we should have been out of sight and the lads have only themselves to blame.

| It's only our 3rd game of the year and that includes a 16 day break between our 1st and 2nd league game. Nothing too much to worry about with regards to dropping a point today as it's understandable by the fixtures we've had so far but something wants sorting about the refereeing by the RFL (the get worse as the years go by) and the way we turned up in the 2nd half wants addressing ASAP by Anderson and the coaching staff. We'll be there or there abouts come September/October and this will only be a minor blip in what should be another good season for us.

| whilst we acknowledge the fact that bentham and his cronies were not good, lets also acknowledge that we made it hard for ourselves at times, the brough disallowed try for example, 3 men going for the same ball, was there a call from brough? he seemed to have a catch and put down until the others got in the way!

well said joe, after all the league season doesn't matter does it ![Wink icon_wink.gif](images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)
but after seeing andersons reaction he puts it down to attitude and says it wont happen again and if it does there will be changes.
as for refereeing standards, forget it, they are untouchable and unaccountable.

| Definitely mate, we expected a stuffing.
You've got the better view of Bentham's performance and lord knows we've seen it, but you have to take those things out of their hands, sad but true.
I do really think that second half you should have killed us and you allowed us a way back into the game.
That on balance we didn't deserve.
We'll take it though!
Edit; Apologies, that was in reply to meast's earlier post.
