how is it arrogant? there was a 50% chance we would pick you, our record against you is better than our record against Leeds this year, and Leeds are far more experienced in the playoffs than yourselves. Explanation done, no extra motivation really, all the above should be understandable from the Players perspective, we had to choose somebody and we chose you. However, not arrogant at all.

I wouldn't call it arrogance from Wire, simply common sense. Lets face it whoever had the call would have picked us - according to everyone else we only won the league cos the others weren't bothered about it - so they would have all seen us as the easier team. Hopefully the coaches and players will use it as motivation.

To be fair this was because the decision had been made before we even played and I can see the logic in making that decision.

However, at the end of the day, motivation for our lads is never going to be an issue and all the pressure is on them - they chose to play the league leaders, they are the 'big' team, they are the home team, they will be overwhelming favourites. In fact, it's hard to think of a reason for us to turn up. I just can't wait...

Calm down fellas, this isn't about disrespect, this is the rational decision given the two options.

These were the factors in the mix:

1. Of the two options, Hudds or Leeds, Hudds are the better side. They finished 5 points ahead of them in the league table and also beat them three times this season. Also Hudds have just steamrollered Hull and are flying in confidence, Leeds scraped past Saints - a good performance, but have less recovery time and a few injuries.

This means if Warrington's goal was to maximise chances of making Old Trafford, Leeds would be the rational choice. However we made Old Trafford last year so getting there isn't a prize for us any more, only winning it is a prize.

2. Hudds are also a better side than Wigan. They finished 7 points ahead in the league table and beat them home and away in the league. Admittedly they lost the playoff there, but due to the playoff format that was the fixture that had least consequences of all the three meetings.

The last six times Hudds have been to Wigan have seen Hudds win 5 and Wigan win 1. So on the balance of probabilities if we chose Leeds and sent Hudds to Wigan the likely winners were Hudds.

So this means that for Warrington to win at Old Trafford we more than likely had to beat Huddersfield, who are the most in form team. Either we had to beat them at Halliwell Jones or at Old Trafford. Our probabilities of beating Hudds at home are higher (where we have won 5 out of the last 6 meetings) than doing it on a neutral ground.

If Hull had beaten Hudds then the rational decision to maximise chances of winning at Old Trafford would have switched to Leeds, as Leeds would be the bigger threat, but again on balance with us winning 4 out of the last 6 against Leeds at home, that would have been the best place to take them on, as that would have meant probably facing Wigan in the final if we won, and Wigan is the team out of all the options that we have the best recent record against.

I'm a Wire fan and don't think there is any areogance or disrespect in this, it must have been an extremely hard choice to make but given Leeds haven't lost a sudden death play-off game since 2010 surely you can see why the choice might have been made. I've got a lot of time for your guys and if you do beat us on Thursday I'll certainly want you to win the final.
