So he never put his body on the line whilst playing for us? Faked injury for half the time he was here and just came for the money with half hearted performances . When he was fit he looked a class act, never pulled out of a big hit or tackle and always was first in their if one of his team mates was in trouble. One of the better Aussies we've brought to the club who was pure class and we've had quite a few in recent years.
He's going for personal reasons and the club understands this so I don't see why the problem is with some of the Fartown fans

Theres as been no Criminal offence here. and more than likely no Civil offence, libel not liable as you qoute is difficult to prove as people are expressing opinions not directly stating their opinions as potentional fact.
The main problem with proving defamation of character is the protection of free speech, Courts generally agree that an opinion, no matter how malicious, is not the same as a stated fact.

| There have been some ridiculous comments on here suggesting that LOD could have played through injury etc. The guy has been unlucky with injuries, it's unfortunate but these things happen!
When he played for us surely nobody could fault his commitment - he was definitely one of the 'hardest' players I have ever seen at the Giants - never shirked a tackle or taking the ball up, when fit he was awesome and just the kind of guy we needed.
I have never seen anyone stop Solomona dead in his tracks running full speed, one on one like he did at the Magic Weekend in Cardiff - didn't look like he was thinking of his pay packet then!!!!
I for one an disappointed he has gone, but still wish him well in Australia. The Giants will move on as we always do and I hope that one of our local lads (Bruno / Fairbank etc) can step into his boots and perform just as well.

its his job..of course he came for the money, his wife hasnt settled apparently so he will want to keep the family happy, he wasnt and never has been a local lad like reilly etc..he comes from a warmer climate and with an offer from the roosters he can settle in bondi . as fans we love to think of hudds as the best place etc, but to foreign journeymen its got no emotional ties to them and will move on...he did ok for us and if he keeps away from the bans(apparently he is the most banned nrl player) he will do great for the roosters

I would agree with this. LOD always seemed to give 100% when i saw him playing and never seemed to shirk a tackle or hide from doing the hard work. He may well have gone back for a number of reasons on eof which may be money. I would never blame any working person moving on for financial reasons.
Is there anyone on here who works for anything other than the salary at the end of the month because i dont.

| PA refers to a conversation he and LOD had over a coffee prior to his departure about PA's coaching and te club in general. Would be nice to hear his thoughts although clearly they're private and we won't get to find out!

| Pointless having contracts nowadays, LOD, brown, eden, brough, ferguson, murphy, all those players left or joined before the end of their current contracts.

| Not really.
Leroy, Eorl, etc cannot be poached by an Aussie club after they've starred in the World Cup unless we give them permission to do so.

| And a suitable deal is drawn up. Sometimes they can just be released, a la LOD, and sometimes a juicy fee is involved, a la Brown. If they are under contract then the club has ultimate control and they weigh up the value of having a player who doesn't want to be at the club with things such as his potential destination, his importance to the team, any fee they might be entitled to and the savings they'd make on his wages that may or may not be used elsewhere. It's far more complex a picture than some like to intimate.

i agree with this... although money was also a factor it has to be said.
as for forgetting who he is, i wont, he was one of the better imports we have had...though cost us a fair whack.
whoever thinks we wont miss a fit odonnell on the pitch for us is talking rubbish.

| You can't miss what you never had! Seems to me that players sign up to long term contracts knowing that if they change their mind later they'll be released one way or another.
