| In my view its certainly an experience !!
Home or away --you can tell after about 15mins which take the refs have on a game !
If I see an evenly reffed game this season (not bothered who`s won us or them) even televised games - It`ll need to be a crash out in a darkened room !
Sorry Mr Cummins but, unless you raise the bar, you and your colleagues are seriously bringing the game into disrepute ! - and confusing all !
last weekend the "pundits" on Sky were at odds with each other re decisions and it aint the 1st time !
And "linesman"--
they can just about raise flag to say "in touch" or "goal"
Forward passes ???? Forget it !!

| Quote: Durham Giant "With that attitude we should start preparing for life in the Championship.
4 to 5000 fans will not keep us in super league. I for one would not be looking to start following the Giants to whitehaven and barrow and leigh again. I have done that for too long.
If i am gonna spend a fortune on petrol and tickets to see a game of RL i want it to be top quality stuff.
That is why i see and stil think the last four years have been a waste. They were the four years we needed to really cement ourselves in SL and keep the momentum going.
Ken has no choice but to put prices up but the fact it has happened at this time when we have been so dire this season is a disaster.'"
with the prices going up and the disaster season you can only see the current average off around 7000 going down not up...10,000 we wont see im afraid.
the football on the otherhand is on the up!

| Very true and places like Swansea and Cardiff have shown the more the interest and success of the football team the harder it has been for the rugby to generate interest and crowds in an area where the rest of the world claim there is an obsession with rugby.
How we cope with what Town may achieve is probably not in our own hands but to be fair the club are doing great work long term with getting lots of youngsters and families to games and the real benefit of the efforts going on now may not be properly seen for ten years or so but if the ten year olds of today become the hardcore support home and away in 2022 the club will at least be on a sounder footing with a conveyor belt of self generated support and perhaps find some playing talent out of those ranks too.

| I am afraid it is not looking good on the season ticket front for our group. Out of 10 of us 3 have lost their jobs so wil not be renewing.
1 More is nearly £300 a month worse off so will not be renewing.
That is 4 down.
I am only going to share a season ticket with my sister and then pay extra for odd games.
With the number of fixture changes to evenings ( especially the monday night ) i miss at least 3 to 4 games a season now. With the petrol costs ( and it going up in january ) savings need to be made. If games were guaranteed every sunday i would have made the effort but cannot stand the night games too much hassle with the travelling.
Out of 10 people in our group that is five not renewing and just picking odd games to go to.
If this reflects other fans then the future is not looking good.

| Well not all fans are being selective, this year our group has grown by another four. Understandable people that have lost their jobs deciding against it. However for the rest of us 'fans' isn't this our passion our hobby? 200 pounds is a great price. Bad time to announce price hikes but to be fair where they are now is where they need to be to put us on an eventually strong financial footing.
I am amazed that the sudden rise in success in recent years has made some forget the struggles we have had.

I have not forgotten where we came from but nor can i forget to me what feels like four wasted years under Brown, we could have and should have done better than we did. This season has been a disaster. I cannot wait for it to end.
Life is too short to waste it and when it costs me £40 plus on petrol every week ( plus ervicing on 30,000 miles a year) on top of tickets etc i have to think carefully about it. If i was enjoying the rugby at the Giants it would be better, but i have been more disappointed with the games i have seen this season than when we used to lose by 50 or 60 points.
We were then but we had no expectations AND THE PLAYERS PLAYED TO THEIR ABILITY. This team of players should be far better than the we have been watching for the last four months.

| Durham giant, you are travelling a fair distance and using your spare cash to watch the team, it is frustrating turning up to watch lack luster performances over the last four months. But you have been a giants fan for years, seen loads of players and a few coaches but through it all the giants are your team.
Nb turned us from a team that made up numbers to close contenders, we are in a slump but we have to live in hope that 2013 our lads find their passion. We have a young squad with plenty of talent that needs some direction. Hopefully Anderson will recapture our form.
Without fans there is no club is that what we want.

Well 'said' adam.
NB expressed it himself, and he was correct, expectations were raised by a huge amount during in his time here.
That was always the gamble, setting the prices so generously low this time that some now baulk at what is no more than a realistic price for next season.
People withdrawing their support is just totally counterproductive to what I assume is their wish, that is to see the Giants succeed eventually.

We must have been at very different games! I've seen many stuffings when we were miles below our ability. Under Schoey, Kear and Reilly (86- 6 versus Leeds was a disgrace). Under smith / sharp and brown performances have been far better.
Surprised you think the last 4 years have been wasted. I do not recall your posts when brown was appointed stating we should expect silverware. maybe half way through 2009 some were saying it.
Certainly 11 and 12 failed to live up to 09 and 10. That said 2011 and 12 are among the top half a dozen seasons that my granddad has seen in 50 years never mind the 20 years I have been watching.
Disappointed we are only a top 8 side getting to a CC semi final.

| Part of the issue i think here is what your expectation levels of the club are and those who have set high levels where winning Silverware is a must and anything else is seen as failure will be disappointed and therefore will more than likely take the attitude of ' am not buying a season ticket, we're and haven't won anything again'......whereas others who, like me, think, 'we've had 4 years above expectation and it hasn't quite happened for us but i'm still gonna enjoy it and give the team my support next year because its what i do' will more than likely renew.
I get great enjoymentout of my rugby win or lose, its a great social event with a top class sport to watch, fair enough my chosen team aren't exactly world beaters but if we all came along just to see us win trophies the large majority of us would have never watched a game.

| The failure i believe in the last four years was to do enough to link the building of the team, with building the fan base, commercial activities and doing enough to make sure the CLUB as opposed to the team survived during a slump.
I fear for what the future holds. Silverware would have been good BUT feeling that the club was in a better position was more important. I do not think that that has been achieved.
4 years of FULL salary cap, better performances but we still ended up with four years of rubbish shirts, poor merchandising and a co herent strategy to build on the fans that were there. Cheap tickets and good links with the University was a start but it needed to go further. The club took a long time to get behind the supporters association etc ( there are many more examples).
I am dissapointed about many aspects of the club not just this seasons woeful showing. I know i am not alone. I know there are many people who offered time, suggestions and commitment to the club an dhave had it ignored.
Myabe i am wrong and everything will be fine next season

Well said
feel exactly the same! It's a hobby and passion. Gutted each time we lose but that feeling when we win...awesome.

I'll have to disagree with you on this point.
Granted, the club were a little sceptical that HGSA would succeed - and, to be honest, knowing how fickle some fans are, I wasn't too sure. However, we are getting there - with the club totally backing us. We've come a long way in 2 years, and we couldn't have done it without the club's help.
And for those RT knockers amongst you, he has supported and helped us all the way. As has every member of staff with whom we have had dealings.
