You don't know the profit margins. Why should the club sell items that are not financially viable? Just to suit you? Not realistic is it.

The reason last years shirt is now unavailable in small is because it is now sold out. At the back end of last season you'd have got it for £25 and they had plenty. You're basically criticising the club because you didn't get the shirt when it was going cheap in the size you want. That's your own fault, no one elses.

There are alternative pieces of merchandise available such as the university t-shirt that come in the small sizes. They are £20 for a SB size, £25 for adult sizes. They're very similar to a playing shirt.

As a club it is not realistic to provide all the permutations. We aren't Man Utd, we have to cut our cloth accordingly.

Give the club £20k sponsorship to do so and I'm sure they'll make you some shirts in whatever size you like!

In a way I agree Dan about the under 12's already get in for free so £40 for a shirt shouldn't be a problem for them.
But i don't agree about the fact the an under 5 who is technically free anyway yet cannot get a shirt that fits them. Last season I had to get Cobi into an age 2 sized kit thankfully it fits but not for much longer and the smallest size for this seasons kit is extra small junior which is for a 5-6 year old! I know they've still got plenty from last season as they obviously not as popular but thats stock control and pricing!!
For a family club they should really be a lot more for the younger kids and thats just not the shirts thats the range in the shop.

From that I'm reading that this season there is no clothing merchandise at all for kids aged 4 and under. Is this correct?

I did not get one at the end of last season as i had decided to get the new seasons shirt at full price as a way of supporting the club when they came out. Unfortunately i was not aware they were not doing small sizes ( or in such limited nos) of the new shirt otherwise i would have got last years..

I would have paid full price for a new shirt but could not get one.

As for the wider issue the profit margins are quite high. On high street clothing they are about 90%. I would imagine that they are at least 50% on replica shirts and probably higher as they would be part of a large order including all the shirts ordered.

I would rather see them cutting the profit margins and selling more shirts to encourage kids. Free season tickets are great. getting them to wear the shirts is the icing on the cake. If that means shaving a few % points of the margin i think it is a price worth paying.

As i understand it there is none or none left for under 8s. I am unclear if they did not make any or only made them for pre orders. As such there were none on general sale. I could not get one on the evening of the Bradford home match so if there were any they were all gone before the first game of the season.

I did ask the kids if they weant an Eorl one as i can get them in smaller sizes but they want a C&G one, ' like dad'.

I don't doubt that the profit margins are high on the shirts. I'm fully aware of what mark up is put on the high street, I really don't need to be told this kind of stuff and TBH your repeated stating of the obvious is tiresome and borderline insulting. Who gets what though? What does the club pay Kooga per shirt? I don't know. Do you? No.

ATEOTD you're making judgemental statements based on conjecture. You don't know what the mark up is on these shirts. You can't make sweeping statements regarding cutting prices to up the sales as a result. The club is losing money in spades and gives away free tickets to these kids as it is. You're saying we would make a lower %age profit. Try thinking about it being a losing venture instead. Why should they do something that will lose them money? If they could make additional money overall by reducing prices in this area I for one think they would do it.

You guessing at figures is just guessing. The club have actual figures to perform their calculations and make their decisions around. What makes you think you know better?

Give the club a break FFS. I'm sick and tired of reading everything they do being ridden down by plastic experts.

I'm sure that improvements can be made. We can always look to improve in every area. However, it would be great if some good news could be greeted warmly instead of being shat on as not good enough. Just once like.

No one is having a go it is a view point and a suggestion.

as you do not know the figures either then your viewpoint is based on conjecture.

At the end of the day we have no option but to leave it up to the club but that does not mean they always get it right and we have the right to disagree if and when we want.

I will not comment publicly about the first part of you post as the irony may be lost on you.

this was a discussion about shirts and merchandising . If you want to make it anything else please take it to PM.

My point acknowledges the fact I don't know the figures.

I think you can still get a bib set and maybe a babies bodysuit but other than that nothing, especially from KooGa!
I think they've ran out of stock of sizes for the pyjama's with no sign of updating stock as they want to clear the bigger sizes first. The T-shirts all start at size 5, I might be wrong but for my son theres nothing for him. At his age though he doesn't mind not having the exact same shirt as the players as it's his Giants kit regardless, but it would be nice to update it as kids don't stay the same size.

Thinking more on the last point maybe thats why the club refuse to bring in more stock for the kids as parents are very unlikely to buy a £40 shirt when it could be outgrown in less than 6 months. It reminds me of my brother when he started high school being buried in his blazer on his first day but not alone as other parents didn't buy to fit but to last!

That's a key point here Wishy, kids outgrow their clothing very quickly and for 40 notes you want more than a few months wear. An adult other than the wasteline, can wear theirs for many a year and still fit.....just icon_eek.gif .

The gesture about free tickets to the games for the kids is a fantastic one, but don't forget an adult (maybe both parents) has to attend too, who may not otherwise.

The thing about kids is they are likely to wear their shirt whilst out playing, most adults don't (I only wear mine to the games), other kids see their mates wearing the shirt and want one too, a lower price would encourage more sales that's no doubt, especially if it's seen as trendy/mates have them and at a price parents can justify for 6-9 months wear.

It's more apparent now seeing as the Giants have pulled out of the 7's promotion where 7 year olds got a shirt from both Giants and Town plus 8 tickets all for a tenner. Town have carried on. Now this was a fantastic promotion as it encouraged quite a few new spectators for both sets of clubs. But the cheap season tickets for both clubs brought down numbers doing it. I don't know what the reason for Giants pulling out though!

I'd also like to know why this has stopped, my youngest was due to receive his shirts later this season and is gutted now he will only get a town shirt icon_confused.gif
