| After only 5mins it seemed that all we were thinking about was the game next week, already accepting this as a lost cause. It was a woeful, woeful team performance but to pick out individuals for blame is ridiculous.
This isn't to take credit away from a great Wigan team performance but we never turned up.

| I would say the coach needs some blame there but I'm not totally convinced about that. We were out-enthused. There was one side out there well up for that match and the other side didn't even turn up.
Where was the line speed in defense? Where was the aggression ball in hand? Where was the intent?
Wigan players were laughing at us. It took 53mins to show any aggression and it ended up in us conceding when their stand off bounced off 2 props and offloaded.
What can you say? It was really hard to stomach.

Quote: 40 year old giant "Thank you. I had a bet before the game started that if we were losing you'd find a way to blame Grix.
Only upside to this game is you've earnt me free drinks for the night.'"
Well I hope that your conscience ensures you do the right thing and return the money to your fellow gambler. Nowhere in the OP is any blame apportioned to Grix, he merely provides a (reasonably accurate) description of his performance. I would probably have used 'turnstile' but that's just personal preference. A truly inept team performance, if one can call it that, the like of which I haven't seen for a long time (and we've turned in a few poor performances this season). Maybe it's unfair to single out an individual on the back of such a weak display, especially when he wouldn't have been called upon to save us if the other members were not missing tackles. But they were. And he was. And like the rest of them he was found wanting. Again.

| Right I've just got back and yes I was one of the few to stay until the very end and for some strange reason I did clap them off. Here's my view of what just happened starting with our favourite player Mr Grix.
Tonight wasn't his fault, yes he made errors but so did others. The question I ask is what does he offer the team as a full back? His defence is awful, his decision making when someone breaks through is non existent and when he does try to tackle he goes high and gets knocked out of the way. His kick returns are average at best.. Most of the time he just passes to one of the wingers. Now I don't mind a full back doing that if they offer other good qualities but he doesn't. Bowen runs the ball back and scares defenders. His attacking play, probably the best of this qualities but still very average and much of it off the cuff. I don't mind off the cuff plays but I don't believe that should be one of our tactics and let's be honest he's not even as a good as Sammut or other players at doing that.
Now for Mr Robinson. A couple of pre seasons ago we tried to sign a player to play with Broughy, we couldn't and settled for playing Robinson. We are still just settling for playing Robinson. He can't control a game the way a good scrum half can. I actually think we looked a better team last week when he went off. His passing is shocking, kicking game limited and has now lost the speed he once had. I will say I think he's had some good games for us defensively but that's not enough for me. Imagine if Smith would have been injured for wigan tonight, like Broughy, Blake Green would have stepped up and taken control. We lack in this area and Jake Connor certainly isn't our answer.
Tonight Anderson made a few mistakes in our team selection and maybe those would have helped us get a less embarrassing result but the players have to take the flak for this. They looked like a team we used to watch 6/7 years ago.. I don't think we're a bad team but we haven't performed great all season. Anderson keeps saying thats an exciting prospect and I agree but it's worrying that he's had all season and dragged about 4 decent performances out of them. Finishing 3rd just papered over the cracks I believe and we wouldn't be there if everyone else had won games they should have done.

| For 22 minutes we were in the game then shipped 54 points in 58 minutes a point a minute unacceptable.
The big argument for Grix is his organisation of the defence in the three matches he was out we shipped 58 points in three games need I say more ??
However Kaffusi has to go he was dead on his feet after 10 minutes bring back Mullaley.
I agree about needing a proper half back but we need some mongrel in the pack too.
On my 72 mile trip home I was thinking about PA's words we are saving it for the play offs ...... Yes ok !!!
Let's hope we ain't saving some more for next week !!

| As a warrington fan, I just don't get this idea that grix is a good player. Whenever I have seen him play, that be on tele or against wire, he just seems to be quite bad. He was atrocious tonight, as were most of the team in his defence, but it's not the first time i have noticed his bad defence. A top 4/5 team like yourselves I would expect higher standards to be honest.

| I think your being generous, I thought we were hanging on from the start and our disallowed try only happened after a couple of penalties got us up there.
Completely agree about muallely, every time he gets a go I think he plays pretty well.
I expect us to play well next week... Provided they have another good week at training and our star man is back. Like it or not he's the difference

| Got a letter re renewal of my season ticket asking all the faithful to try and get nearer and nearer the 10000 mark for saeason tickets
Sorry to say that the "faithful 6000" will TRY but with the slipped in performances like Salford (H) 2nd half at Wakey(away) and tonight -- we need bribery to make newbies come and stay !
Could management get that message home
Consistency IS the key --and we lack it big time
The newbies WILL get used to it quickly - its been a long learning curve for the rest of us!!
A total insult to the traveliing fans !
If we`d played like last week and lost -fair do`s
But no !
Eorl said on TV he "couldn`t wait"!!
Should have mentioned it to his teammates!

| OH DEAR!!!
Just got back and watched the post match interviews on Sky - PA said we were "emotional pumpkins" and lost our focus on processes etc... Well I did not see any emotion from the Giants tonight - agree with PA though with his other comment that it was all very embarrassing . Someone else said that it was like watching Fartown 6/7 years ago - very true.
I just don't get how we can let ourselves down so badly like that - what is it about play-off games that seems to turn us in to a poor team overnight - when we can more than hold our own against any side during the regular league games home and away? We just do not appear to have the heart, depth of character, aggression, mongrel or whatever to raise our game when we need to in order to match what the likes of Wigan, Warrington, and yes Leeds do when it really matters.
Will be there again on Thurs/Fri praying for a miracle in that we can bounce back and still make the GF - but to be honest we really do not deserve it after that game tonight - very embarrassed and disappointed right now - but hey all will be forgotten if we can use this to motivate a proper response and create the right attitude in our next match(es).
I probably do still have some blind faith that we can do a hell of a lot better - but watching Fartown sometimes is painful - tonight was even worse than the loss at Hunslet - and that was truly pants.

| I am probably going to get some right stick now but I'm going to say it anyway.... Lunt has been crap for the majority of the season and today was seriously stifling our attack.
He ran from dummy half ONCE that I recall, the rest of the time he (eventually) took the ball from the ptb and passed it to someone... By which time Wigan had got within a metre of that someone. The thing he does well are his "specials" scoring from DH- but if we aren't ever in a position a metre from the oppositions half it's a bit of a waste! Passing the ball from the floor isn't hard to do- my 10 yr old manages it- is he crocked or looking for out or just not arised I don't know- but he needs to sort it out cause it's giving us nothing to work with!
