| got to agree daz cant see the point of going to manchester at all, hows that spreading the game, ihave been to every magic weekend so far and stopped over but for this game it will just be like going to any match, ie go the game then come home, i for one think the ground will be empty more than cardiff as fans come to their match then go home, will still go but a big mistake by the rfl for me.

| They may go home after their matches maybe, some people only went to their own matches at Cardiff and Edinburgh so I can't see what difference it will make! I can see it being like the others where you get a weekend or day ticket and folks will want value for their money and RL fans will stay and watch RL regardless on who's playing!! It's been tried and tested elsewhere so why not try somewhere more central where many don't have to worry about additional expense of finding accommodation, travel etc!! People moaned when it was moved to Scotland but people still went people moaned when it was to be Feb in Cardiff people still went!!
If you want a weekend away why not go to London when we play there! If you want to mill around and have banter with other fans why not hang around Manchester with other fans who also want to mill around and have banter!!! I really can't see the problem here!!

| so your going to go home after the giants game and miss the hull derby or the wigan/saints derbys which will be the last games of the day.. if you werent staying over in cardiff/edinburgh you were clock watching and wanting to get off home and missing the later games...wont have too this year
no chance of getting a hotel in cardiff they just up the prices..another problem not to worry about, get train home or taxi if a few of you.
hmm some rugby league fans!

| I think we may well get more supporters per day, but less attending both days. I'll only go to the day WTW are playing as,for me, it's not an event now that I don't go away for the whole weekend, which is a shame as I loved a weekend in Cardiff/Edinburgh.

| Maybe in a few years time Actually I'll be down whenever the Giants are on TV (which will be lots if last year is anything to go by), just bought a season ticket for behind the sticks because games are always better if you watch it live than on TV.

| Far better IMO, and will be guaranteed to be better supported, I for one found the lack of atmosphere at the Murrayfield weekends disappointing with not even half the stadium full, plus damn too expensive. Being local makes it affordable for me, so I'm happy with the change and I bet alot of other families will do too.
If people want a weekend away then there's Catalans and Broncos.

| Yes Catalans and London are do-able weekends away but when we go to London for our game there is only a handful of fans from either teams, not thousands from every team which what made the magic weekend magic ...mingling and having a laugh with opposition fans and getting their views on our team, the game in general etc.....

| Here's a suggestion. Why not take the Magic Weekend to Europe. How does Amsterdam sound,or Copenhagen,or Hamburg or even Prague.Would it be that expensive to have a weekend in these spots? Don't Britfolk go for hen & stag do's to these kind of places now.

But that is only one game over the weekend, the magic weekend gives you 7.
It`s not just a weekend it is a festival of Rugby League.

| Quote: GIANT DAZ "poor decision ...its taken the whole idea of the weekend away for me...people will now just go for their own team's game then go home .....i personally dont think it will make much difference to the attendance anyway and unlike Cardiff people cant just leave the ground, nip across the road to a pub or restaurant then back in for the next game.
Very disappointed, its taken a social event i really enjoy away from me now to pander to a few people who moaned but never intented to go anyway and probably wont still !!!!
Spot on Daz.
Been to all of them so far barring this years, and that was only because of the risk of bad weather in February. That was a bad decision in my opinion having it in February for a weekend away. But I believe the concept is a good idea which needs a trial of 10 years to see if crowds improve.

The stadiums are not even half full, we seen an average of 60K over 2 days, that's 30K a day and some of those (me included) have been double counted as I tend to do both days. Yes I have enjoyed myself, but the package as not taken off, and the festival of RL needs to be more affordable, more closer to the heartlands if the RL wants to promote the game.
Crikey we see Wembley not even half full for an England v Australia game yes Football gets 82K for a friendly, the same can be said in the heartlands RL is a minority sport, lets get more people interested, how many people watch other sports along the M62 corridor than RL.
All we seem to be doing is diluting the product not enhancing what we have in the heartlands, simples.
I bet you we see far more people attending in Manchester, and I bet those that do go will fully enjoy the experience, it'll be a lot lighter on the pocket too.

The problem was not the Stadium it`s getting there and back. And the snow we have experienced over the last 2 winters really put me off attempting it.
