Or just don't deal with that particular agent! Hard to know what the demands of any were to justify anything!
For me Patrick wanted to go and we got a young player who is playing well for us in return
Lunt was excess to requirements
Chan was off his game and with ferres, taai, Bailey, Bruno, excess to requirement
Kafusi wasnt ripping it up as expected was asked to prove himself like mull at Bradford refused so went and we got huby who looks to be far better a player.
So we have essentially cut some players who would just be warming the side lines or stopping eager players getting game time!

| Quote: GIANT DAZ "disappointed that he's leaving, but more disappointed with the fact that he hasn't been playing anywhere near his best for us for at least 12-15 months. It's almost as if he's known he isn't staying and has been putting in half-ar$sed performances on purpose though i doubt a pro would do such a thing.
By all accounts he had no intention of staying here and had asked to leave...it was clear from his performances his heart wasn't here anymore, and in my opinion, it never has been since he came back from Headingley when he made it clear he wanted to join Leeds !
It has also been mentioned its another of his dummy spits, guess we will never know, but fi true do we want a player who is going to sulk every time he gets dropped ?
As good a player he is and has been for us he hasn't shown anything remotely like a player committed to the cause for a while.
I thank him for his part he played in this club and wish him well for the future !!'" Exactly Daz good post.

Bilko, are you saying that Agents are controlling Rugby and Giants in particular. Do you know these agents names and the players they represent? And how much they take from both parties. Oh for the good old days when the Players sorted out their own deals!

I am not in the know what happens between the people that deal with players and clubs, but I do think when a player and a club signs a contract it should be adhered to by both parties and,if either party attempts to renege on this all parties including the agents should be held legally responsible.I don't know the agents name and neither do I want to.

but we have players that are versatile and can play diff positions, dont agree we lack depth in our squad.

| Quote: Mad_Jack_Mcmad "I cannot see how anybody in their right mind can, in anyway, shape or form justify this decision as being sensible financially, organisationally, succesfully or in a footballing regard. Quite possibly one of the single most dumb decisions I have ever seen a sporting organisation make. He is the only player we have who has won a Grand Final. He may well be the only player we have who has played in one. We are 4 weeks into the season. We have a 1-3-0 record. The club must've known in the off season that Lunt wasn't signing for another year. We have let him go to a rival team, for no return and unless the club pulls an international hooker out of their sleeves in the next week or two, with no adequate replacement.
Then again footballing and recruitment decisions at the club have been atrocious for a few years now. The Simpson signing, the O'Donnell farce (strikingly similar), the Mason affair, the lame donkey extension etc etc. Unfortunately it seems that the last few years have been as good as it gets and we should let the club settle back to it's more natural level of being a reasonably big lower division club and forget the Superleague experiment.'"
have you been watching the Giants since 2013? tell me what lunt has done since then for us apart from be injured and be out of form.
if you want a player at the club who doesnt actually want to play for the club then thats your choice... the club offered him a 3 year new deal for next year onwards but he didnt even want that with a testamoniel season thrown in.
maybe the offer wasnt good enough but the club said it was their best offer, maybe if we had bigger crowds we could have a bigger squad but we dont , said before we have been punching above our weight so time for a reality check sometimes.

Somewhere in the dust of time rest the bones of the Galilean
He who was spat upon. He whose face was marred beyond all human likeness
Somewhere buried among the lies of the past rests the tomb of Yeshua
Of he who was made God in a world without Hope.
And when this son of Joseph is found. What then will the Church of Rome say?
Prepare yourself for the day is coming. And men will say
"Blessed are the wasted lives who perished in the flames of the holy war": |

So you suggest that we had a player who has been out of form and or injured for 2 years who didn't want to be at the club and yet the club saw fit to offer him a lucrative 3 year deal, which he didn't take up and even then they still hung onto him even though at least one club would have bit their arm off at the elbow to get hold of him, only to loan him to another club 4 weeks into the season because in a fit of coincidence even Charles Dickens would have turned his nose up at they happened to enquire about him the morning that he had "clear the air talks" with the coach?
Yeah that makes it all sound so much better managed doesn't it?
Because people seem hard of understanding I will reiterate. This has nothing to do with Lunt as a player or how he has played for us. He is a player who has experience of winning a Grand Final. He is an International player. On form he is one of the best in the country. All that needs to be replaced, I may be wrong and in the next week the club may announce the signing of Mcillorum, Roby or a similar calibre player, however I doubt that any sensible club will release a quality player 4 weeks into the season so I won't be holding my breath.
It is a dumbass move that leaves us without an experienced specialist in the single most important role in Rl. Whether Lunt has been off form or not there isn't a single shred of sense in the timing and execution of this move.
And yes I would rather have players who know how to win but don't want to be at the club than players who do want to be here but only know how to lose. It's a job, they don't have to want to be here, they just have to work. I expect players to be professional.

Mad Jack, you make a lot of sense. Did the Club really offer Lunt a 3 year deal after he was injured most of last season . Most on here believe everything that the Club tells them, some of us choose to look at the facts. Something smells.

| Lunt hasn't been international or champion form in 2 years
I'm sorry he's gone because if he could regain his form he is brilliant - but on the showing of the last 12 months, he is no loss to us at all
As for other ins and outs...kafusi was pants, Chan had lost form, Fooey retired - and he was the best of them
Larne hadn't improved and had lost his x-factor
We've got Huby who was on the edge of test selection until injury
Hughes who is a back row to do a back row job
Ellis is a proper halfback
Wood and Robbo have done a better job at 9 than Lunt this season

| Thing is as good as Lunt was and COULD be again , he wasn't performing, are we supposed to keep players here because they were good 2 or 3 years ago ?. He didn't want to stay, he wasn't playing well so what is the point of keeping him here unhappy sand taking up a squad place and a wage ?.

Lunt has been doing the im going you need to look elsewhere/ I'm staying give me more money for a while.
He was described to me by someone very close to the club as acting "like he had a split personality" last season.
It sounds very much like he didn't quite know what to do for the best for him and his family. He has never hidden the fact he wanted to try his hand in aus. He has a new baby due next month so it will be difficult to make choices to move in those circumstances.
He's obviously finally made the decision to move on or the club have decided that they need to. He hasn't been the player he was since his injury and surgery and there's only so long the club could keep selecting him in the hope he regains form whilst other players in the squad are playing better. Kudos to anderson for having the balls to drop him I say.
Whatever he decides to do next season good luck Lunty.
