is buying these shirts taking money away from the club? surely buying a replica from the shop helps out the club?

You know what, if the club released a shirt like this I would have bought it from them, however, despite multiple people wishing the club would put out a shirt like this, they still haven't. So yes, it may take money away from the club, but I buy enough other Giants merch regardless

The club are already doing themselves out of money by releasing crap shirt designs.

its for the ex-players association and i suppose proves to the club that these new fandangled swishes and swooshes in purple, yellow and orange or whatever colours they're suposed to be may appeal to the younger/new fans but a hell of a lot of fans want a traditional shirt, the club have failed to offer us one in recent years - 2008 or 9 being the last design that vaguely resembled a Fartown shirt - so those who wanted traditional have gone elsewhere.
Yes, the club lose out i suppose but they haven't catered for what a lot of fans wanted !

eusa_clap.gif . I used to buy a replica shirt every season, but recently, IMHO, the quality of them has gone downhill, both in terms of design and quality, and the vastly over inflated prices the club ask fans to pay is ridiculous. The club will have to start to realise a lot of fans will not buy replica shirts just because they are official merchandise, people want value for money, and in the present economic climate I feel that to many fans the replica shirts aren't at the top of their shopping list and have become a luxury rather than an essential.

a lot of us who have bought these retro shirts are old school fans, traditionalists if you like, we have been crying out for a proper fartown design for years instead the club come up with the usual pap every year.im sure had the club released some sort of traditional shirt to cater for the old school type then we would have bought them.look how many C+G hooped t-shirts you see around, but at £30+ they are expensive. i would certainly spend more on merchandise from the club,if they had things i liked, but they dont, now i have a shirt i can wear for the next few years and wont be rushing out to spend nearly £50 on another poorly designed replica shirt.

on the subject of traditional shirts, apart from 2009 and i think 2007, most of the shirts we've had over the last 12 years have been nothing like a huddersfield RL shirt.
but looking at most SL clubs, apart from maybe bradford they are all pretty much in that clubs traditional style.
it would be great to see teams playing in THEIR traditional kits and not just for one heritage round.

think its not really the giants fault...wonder how much say they have in the designs...think kooga have more to do with it than we think

other teams have shirts made by kooga and they are all similar with the lines up the sides ..(bradford,salford..)

The club will have to agree to a design as its their uniform for the season .....i'm sure someone at the club has a say in what kind of kits the team plays in and is ultimately reproduced for the fans to buy........but the last few years has seen a shift towards what can only be described (my opinion) as garbage, awful eyesores that appeal to our younger fans ........i dont like them, i wont buy them, someone offered me the chance to purchase a proper traditional Fartown shirt and 10 times better quality than what the club offers for a cheaper price !!

Picked ours up today, and I think they're great, really think the club/Kooga have missed a trick here, a good quality traditional Fartown shirt at a reasonable price. I still buy things from the shop but some of the merchandise is IMO very poor in quality, highly priced and in my experience doesn't wear very well.

Thanks again Rod.

i've been saying for years now to you and anyone who will listen that the club could be onto a real money spinner if they did some retro shirts, sadly it never materialised, so crackers/the ex players cracked on with them and bingo!

agree with daz though that most of the recent replica shirts are trying to be modern and cool and appealing to a small section of our support.
i still cant beleive more than 20 of the apalling away shirts have been sold icon_mrgreen.gif

I think our Joe will like his, no doubt it'll be showing in all the pubs around Stirling, it's the first time he's not bought a replica shirt for years. He can't make this weeks match but I think he's down for next weeks match at Wakey and the Town match on Saturday.
