| Well brown knew how to get the best of brough- let’s hope he’s passed on the magic formula.
He’s certainly got his work cut out regardless. He needs to do better than barely scraping us through the middle 8s In order to make the most of next year IMO.
The key for him is to get an almost full squad fit. Ready to fight for their spot in the team and impress the new coach.
Bumper needs to work his magic quick!

| Quote: Steve May "Brough seems the short of bloke who needs things spelling out as clearly as possible. Talk to him straight, and it might mickey him off, but he’ll get the message.
He’s thirty five. He doesn’t need someone to be nice to him. He needs someone to tell him how to get the most out of the next eighteen months before he finally retires, and then how to earn a living for the rest of his life.
A good coach could squeeze a phenomenal Indian summer out of him. But it won’t happen without some pretty hard truths being told.'"
nathan brown will im sure have told woolford all about brough.. brown brought brough to the giants and got him playing his best rugby

Brown got the best out of just about all our players till he had his wobbler, then it went down hill, yes we won the Hubcap but the fans obviously didn't like what they were watching, at least a lot of them.
If Woolford can do what Brown did he will probably get the freedom of the Town. Just like when Stone came, survival is all we can hope for. We all know how the C Cup went for us and we will be massive underdogs against Wakey this season but who knows many times we do well against them.
As far as i'm concerned we can only get better, Bring on the Hardman.

| A new coach thread dominated by Danny Brough talk.
Can't wait for the Brough era to end. I hope our new coach gets the best out of him... if he can't I hope he shows his true strength and drops him. Same goes for any of our players who can't keep there head on the pitch.

Just for clarity Brough was already playing his best rugby whilst at Wakefield, that's why Davey's money brought him to shudds.

| Looking forward to Woolford coming in. What the expectations should be?
We get an eager hungry coach
We get a disciplinarian type
We have a coach with passion
We have a coach who is setting up to stay
We have a coach who will listen and utilise those around him while he gets used to the English game
1) he has made the jump, a big one at that to take a head job and has already been in touch with Thorman and started to tweak things. He has commented on the squad and already putting expectations there.
2) a lot being said that he opposite to stone, he is competitive hates to lose and expects players to do there job no excuses
3) with using Skype ect he is already getting to grips with the job before he gets here, certainly shows he wants to crack on.
4) moving over with his wife and his two daughters, family is important and the fact they are coming out with him is a massive move.
5) talking to Nathan brown about will and won’t work over here the players ect and again going back to Thorman, they have been talking Thorman says they need the help as him and Robbo are the ones doing the coaching at the min. Thorman saying he is excited to work with him. All good signs
My expectations are realistic to his experience as coach. First head role and a lot to learn but hopefully with the support around him

At Huddersfield he stepped up a level and was the best player in the competition.
He’s past it now mind, but he was a hell of a good player four or five years back.

You tried unsuccessfully to make the point that everything was down to Brown signing Brough which isn't quite true because every man and his dog knew how good he was playing, he was playing brilliantly in a poor team so it was no wonder he was going to up his game playing for a better quality team at the time, who incidently had an owner who was prepared to pay over the odds to secure him, as for winning the man of steel he would probably have won it on more than one occasion had he been playing for one of the big clubs
Oh and btw same old crap with a different name

Exactly, he wasn't the best player because he was playing in a poor side but the talent was there for all to see, when he went to a better team it allowed him to show how good he was, and had any of the perceived big clubs had been prepared to pay a transfer as well as settling his debts then he might have won more, money well spent imo because you could ask would your team have won the LLS without him.

Moving to Huddersfield definitely allowed him to flourish as a player. E do see this happening regularly. Its happened to a number of giants and Wakey transfers in both directions.
It happens with a lot of players, there's a number of factors that can cause it.
Any stand out player who plays for the big clubs will get more recognition because we see them on Sky so much more.
Some fans didn't really know who Seb was when he won man of steel last year.
Imagine hardly knowing one of the best players in a competion that you are a fan of. Playing for a bigger club can 100% have a major influence in promoting your career.

hence why we dont get on tv much nowadays and have been getting players in with lack of ambition and we just arent an attractive proposition anymore... no problem picking up your wage and not much pressure at the giants... needs a culture change.

He wasn’t the best player- because he wasn’t the best player. Many other players WERE better regardless of their club. for instance Rangi won it with cas finishing in the bottom half of the table.
