| having watched this elliot kid you will notice he doesnt tackle face on he always has to run from behind or the attacker always sidesteps him quite easy he has been moved numerous times from full back to wing i think the st helens game was just a one off for him to star so he took his chance.on saturday two maybe three of the tries were down his side so no tackle no future good attack no defense

| anybody see widdop for england?? think he looks an awsome kid, if he has any sense he will stay where he is and carry on learning from the best but if any of the clubs in super league had any sense they would be doing their best to bring him to england!!
not sure how interested he would be to join the giants but surly we should have a go at getting his signiture?? guaranteed first team rugby in super league or wait in line for god knows how many years at melbourne!

With all that's happened at Melbourne you can expect them to offload several of their stars - Billy Slater may be one of them opening the door for Widdop at Melbourne.

| I was going to ask how much has anyone actually seen of Elliot hodgson. Games in the under 20's are nothing like the intensity of first team games.
The knocking of Brett Hodgson on here is pathetic. i didn't hear much said last week when he ran the show at Odsal.
Cudjoe imo does not have a long term future at fullback and i think Nathan Brown was strongly hinting at this fact when he said his best position was possibly centre.

| How many games has Cudjoe played at fullback? To say he has no future at fullback maybe a self fulfilling prophecy if he isn't given the chance to play there. Surely the best use of resources would be to give him the full back spot for rest of season after all there's only so much you can learn by watching. If he performs then all well and good and if not by all means try to turn him into a centre.

| He has played plenty of games at full back. Lack of ability under the high ball and poor positonal sense are not easy problems to solve. His try scoring in the threequarters is very impressive and with Whatuira out of contract at the end of the season it makes sense to give him a run at centre.
The caoching staff will have seen a lot more of him than us at fullback and i trust their judgement on this matter.

According to the stats section on this site:
25 of his 53 appearances have been at Full-back (8 tries)
23 on the wing ( 24 tries)
4 at centre (2 tries)
and 1 sub appearance (0 tries)

| Assuming those statistics are correct, which I seriously doubt, how many games on the trot has he played at full back? How many training sessions and games has he been assured of that spot? Many on here have gone on about confidence players and all I'm wondering is if Cudjoe is guaranteed the full back spot till the end of the season will he shine or will it prove he isn't up to it?

| If those stats are true it just shows what a great finisher Cudjoe is when played as an outside back.

Why do you doubt them? Because they appear to add weight to the argument that Cudjoe is a talented outside back?

Brett Hodgson is arguably the best full back in Super League. If you're talking about the best use of resources, you're talking about playing Brett Hodgson at full back. To not play our captain in the position he has played all his career would be, well, stupid.

Brett was certainly the best full back in Super League last season but as you say it is arguable that the same could be said this season. Having not seen many Giants games it would be interesting to compare the statistics between the two of them for this season when they've been playing full back. Leroy doesn't see himself as a winger so it's not just my opinion.

| just compared Brett Hodgson's stats for last year and this and it seems there is not much difference other than he is scoring lesss but creating more tries. I think that he is being judged not on his indavidual contribution but on the fact that this season the team is doing badly compared to last season.
Scapegoat anyone !

| Is Brett Hodgsom that bad?
Has he gone from MOS to poor SL player.
Or are fans picking the faults he had last year as he is leaving them for Warrington?

| I don't believe I am picking fault with Brett Hodgson or making him a scapegoat. I would just like someone to be given a real chance who has been brought through the ranks. I don't see what's to lose. If Cudjoe does well the Giants have money to spend elsewhere, if he doesn't perform then get someone else in. We have to start building for next season and this would be an opportunity to use Brett to pass on advice while he's still with us.
