| Quote: digger "Negative 'supporters' get right on my tits generally. I don't get where they are coming from - booing their team after getting beat. Where does the demand that we play well every week come from?
And do players *need* to know how the fans feel? Will they be thinking "oh, I bet the supporters are delighted that I knocked on there", no of course not, and they'll be more sed off with themselves than any supporter. What's important is the reaction of the coach and the players themselves. They'll let each other know when it's not good enough. The supporters job is to back the team and make the Galpharm a difficult place to play for the opposition team.'"
I would say if it was a close game and they nipped it in the end then there would have been no booing at all. It's only because they never turned up that they got the reaction from the crowd.
There were still people clapping at the end too.

| People pay nigh on £20 to be entertained, they deserve some sort of commitment from the players
RL isnt a business of paying RL players, its a business of entertaining people.

| I didnt boo and i dont particularly like hearing it but those that did did so because the players were not interested in winning that Rugby League game that these people had given up their time and money to watch and like has been said - be entertained.
many people left the game early because they had seen enough of these players just being on the field doing next to nothing.
hopefully the players will respond to it - they took the cheers and applause early in the season when they were bothering so now its only fair that they take the stick these same people are now giving them.

| They got a boo from me at the hooter and then off I trotted. I'd normally hang around to clap them off but not yesterday, I had a pint glass to stare into forlornly for a few hours...

| cant see any point at all in booing, didnt take long for some either when brown failed with penalty to touch, also thought the ironic cheers when he found touch on the next penalty didnt help matters.End of the day all teams have poor performances at some stage in the season lets hope thats our worst and we kick on again from here, roll on sunday.

| have the fans learnt nothing from last season when Thorman got booed after dropping a bomb against wakefield i think then everyone booed him.
You could see the confidence drain out of him and he lost it for the rest of the season.
will it make the team play better , will it help players confidence , does it create a good atmosphere , does it present the club or supporters in a good light
will nathan Brown think they dont rate Brown at standoff, i will drop him next week and put our substitute stand off back in or i will go out and buy Lockyer .
i would rather 200 fans there supporting the team than 6000 with half of them booing.
thats why i enjoy away games and hate home games.
If paying your money means you think you have the right to boo then i suggest you save your money or go watch saints.
At least wait until the end of the season to make a point because otherwise booing SERVES NO PURPOSE WHATSOEVER NOW OTHER THAN UNDERMINING THE TEAM AND THE CLUB.

Do you think they left the pitch thinking i am sure the fans enjoyed that

It might be a buisness to the RFL or the directors or the money men.
It may be a job to the players but for me it is a love affair that sometimes goes unrequited.
I still love them win or Lose.

| im more bothered by our fans clapping opposing teams onto the field at the start of games...
hardly an intimidating atmosphere for the away team.. where else does this go on?
maybe our fans are getting just as complacent as the team at the moment thinking we can just turn up.. and feeling sorry for the away team having not many away support

Somewhere in the dust of time rest the bones of the Galilean
He who was spat upon. He whose face was marred beyond all human likeness
Somewhere buried among the lies of the past rests the tomb of Yeshua
Of he who was made God in a world without Hope.
And when this son of Joseph is found. What then will the Church of Rome say?
Prepare yourself for the day is coming. And men will say
"Blessed are the wasted lives who perished in the flames of the holy war": |
|
| I wouldn't boo the team, I might shout at them when they play as bad as Sunday but never boo them. As for clapping the opposing team onto the field, I don't see a problem. Creating an "intimidating" atmosphere can often lead to a team playing better cf Huddersfield at Keighley in the Challange Cup in 1995. To be fair if the other team scores a good try, or put in a good passage of play or make a good tackle, even if it prevents a try for us, then I'll applaud them, it's just curtesy.

I agree entirely. We have every right to be frustrated when the performance is poor, ( I'm sure the players don't play poorly on purpose) but booing is hardly going to inspire them to improve. Even if it makes the person booing feel better.
Also, I felt embarrassed when some fans cheered when KB found touch with his kick. Same thing happened at Warrington with Brett Hodgson when he caught a high kick after the Leeds game.

There 10 types of people in this world.... Those that understand the binary system and those that dont: |
|
| have to say the booing got right on my tips, but then i had some fella behind me that loved the sound of his own voice sat right behind me.
"run straight cudjoe ya clown" closely followed by "the wing was wide open why dont you go round em you muppett" was the general tone.
i found myself trying to cheer on any glimpse of something positive.
i just dont get how negative people can be we are top end of the table have given the top teams in the league a good run for there money we have a new coach who is new to SL his ideas and team is developing at a pace greater than any of us could have fairly expected before the season started.
yep that was a poor performance but we are gonna have them from time to time certainly leeds and saints have this season so i dont think we are bad company.
in comparison to the dish served up when my dad started taking me to fartown back in the early eighties we have come a long long way.
