| Quote: Danril "We'll never get to know all the intimate details of these deals. Maybe agents played a part. Maybe there was some confusion along the way and Brett signed a deal with Wire before discussing the offer with the Giants for whatever reason. Who knows and, to a certain extent, who cares because it's now a done deal isn't it.'"
I think people are over thinking it to be honest.
Seems pretty clear whats gone on and no reason for Wire and Hudds to be making up stories about him wanting 2 years at Hudds.

| I don't think people are over thinking it. I think because of what has happened, the timings of announcements etc, something unusual has occurred. Not necessarily rule breaking or anything but something unusual.

No really a player out of contract next season has signed for another club starting 2011.
All this stuff about the Cup and trying to unsettle your team is rather funny.

| As you've shown in the other thread your club has a habit of not being able to keep these things quiet and it would be better for all concerned if they could improve in that regard.

Are you for real? That post is a self contradiction.
It's disruptive for all concerned. It's not a good thing IMO and if you feel it can affect the players then surely you must agree!

| i posted about the deal 3 week since and was told a week before that the brett was leaving end of year , club definately only offered 1 year deal on reduced terms as far as i know, no chance of 2. thats the reason he is leaving from what i can gather its to do with salary cap issues for next year.

Well if what you know IS correct Goodie -I can well understand a player whos standards have been consistently of a high rating and earned him "man of steel" award being just a teeny weeny bit miffed about a "pay cut" ---and wanting to see, nearing the end of his playing career if there were other longer term options at his current package ----or more
The question in my mind is , as he is/was contracted until the end of the season , why we couldnt restrict any dealings / agreement until AFTER the final game
plenty of time for negotiations
(After all Tony Smiths deal with Leeds was "wrapped up" in a weekend ! )
..............or maybe a `subsequent injury` in the second half of the season would have put the mockers on even a ONE year deal with someone else eh ?
mmmm?

| Look ATEOTD it's simple, Brett wanted 2 years, Huddersfield only willing to offer 1 year.
Good Luck to the lad for the future but IMO it's the right decision, numerous times it's been said and I'll not apologise for saying it again but he will be 33 before he plays a game for Wire.
He has played 7 of 17 games for us this season and is now out for another month missing possibly another 4-5 games? How many games will Brett play in the 2 years with Wire? is it a gamble? who knows and I will be sad to see him go but IMO it's the right decision by the Giants

| Quote: Durham Giant "It sems nailed on that Brett is leaving at the end of the season and obviously we are all dissappointed.
BUT
until then Brett wears OUR shirt, he is OUR full back, He is OUR captain and we should all get behind him.
I do not know him or his reasons for leaving. Probably financial and no one can blame him. It will be his last contract before retiring and good luck to him.
But i am sure that he is a consumate professional and a proud man who will do everything he can this season to win some silverware for OUR team.
He was as proud as punch to win the MOS and will be trying 110 % to win the CC and the Grand Final this year for OUR club.
So for the rest of the season cheer him, applaud him, admire his skill, remember the great memories as the best player to wear the C&G that 99% of us have ever seen and lets work together for OUR team for the rest of the season.
Next year when he is playing for Wire we can boo him and remember how much better he suited C&G.'"
Bump. Have a read!

Obviously last year people disagreed with your view but after yesterdays game it would be difficult to argue. Thought you were a troll out to wind up but I notice you're a Wire fan. Well played yesterday and good luck for the rest of the comp. Hope you make it to Wembley again this year.
