I’ve heard a rumour from an accurate source that Mellor asked for the same money as Roberts and was told no.

Mellor is twice the player that Roberts is now but it seems though that we have a lot of cap tied up in Roberts which appears to have been a huge error.

From listening to Thewlis yesterday it sounds like Mellor will definitely not be at the Giants next year.

we aren’t playing marquee money to an overseas player who is keeping out a youngster.
In fact our youngsters are keeping out Aussies.

We've then got 4 top earners who can't get in the team in Seb, Frawley, Uate and Leroy (who Thewlis claims has been fit for for a while but can't get in the team).

A team of youngsters is no good. A mix is best. The kids need to aspire to something and what better in the game than the NRL

I think we tend to do better out of our islanders than our ozzys. Hinchy was good, before that our best ozzy was probably Hodgson, then Drew.

As for the Roberts rumour, if we aren't willing to pay Mellor the same as a second rower who can't get in our team then somethings wrong. I know we have a cap to work to, but that being the case we would surely be trying to get Roberts out on loan somewhere or out full stop to accommodate Mellor? If Mellor does go Roberts really needs to take that opportunity and stop resting on his laurels.
