Been following this debate with a great deal of interest and like Daz, Meast, Jools have stated the non application of the rules, offside at the PTB and laying on, by Mr Child was shocking but in no way caused the Giants to lose as we found numerous ways to shoot ourselves in the foot.

However I can see the point DG is trying to get across when other teams play the game according to how the rules are being applied and was thinking on Friday night that Baloo should have got the message out for us to do the same.

I am in complete agreement that no team should have to adapt to the referees interpretations but sometimes needs must, in fact I can remember reading an article by Ellery Hanley when Wigan were wining everything in sight year in year out, and though Wigan were head and shoulders above all the other teams at the time, they left nothing to chance and Ellery stated that they did their homework on all the referees, and knew all their idiosyncrasies and what they could get away with depending on who the ref was.

bentham gave him a run for his money today! it's getting worse, along with our frustrating performances!

And if I remember correctly he just played on at the cowardly chase incident and when told by the touch judge what had happened it was put on report but not even a penalty was given. A complete buffoon who should be nowhere near a whistle. Give him a flag and leave it at that.

We can always expect that from bentham. Dumb and Dumber these 2 but I'm not sure which is which?

an amazing stat, is that we've been awarded just 3 penalties in the last 3 games,, thats THREE penalties per game
that's interesting, is it because:

A, all the teams we play against are ridiculously clean in rugby league terms and give very few penalties away
B, that as DG said on the child thread, that we need to "play the ref's" more
C that we aren't deemed worthy of penalties
D just the way of the world
E something underlying going on?

Durham you don't get it do you? rugby league as most sports has rules, the rules are there for a reason, I see you are knocking the players for not been able to string 2 passes together, very difficult with the opposition stood in your line due to been a yard offside. you also don't get that teams should not have to adapt to the ref,they should be able to confidently play their normal game and if that's bending the rules they should expect to be penalised for it. The game now is garbage due to refs like Child and Bentham and the RFL rewarding all this wrestling rubbish that goes on and has slowed the game to snails pace. Needs a massive shake up from top to bottom

We don't seem to be getting any help from the refs at all at the moment but we need to start helping ourselves. Complete some sets, don't whinge at the ref when we cop a bad call because when it comes to an egotist such as Bentham all it does is make him worse.

We need to just focus on completing our first 5 sets of each half. No dumb passes, no fancy plays. Get a feel of the ball in your hand and a good kick at the end of it with a good chase. Play in their half and look to dominate the pitch a bit.

Whether the game needs a shake up or the RFL need to do something about reffing is out of our control.

What the team need to do is play whats in front of them on any given day.

If we are dropping the ball because the other team is a yard offside then why dont we stand a yard offside and get them to drop the ball

because we get penalised for it.

like we saw yesterday, the same offences were committed by both sides and only one side got penalised, how can you legislate for that?

Phil mr wigan was on about refs on the sky sports web site people on here should reed it as he thinks how the games is being controlled is becoming a major problem . As a team we need to show them more respect Brough fing and jeffing is only going to give them the hump. As a club its up to Ken and co to work on member clubs to support a motion of no confidence in Rimmer and co in how they run the game as for Sharpe and Ganson
