| It took Wigan to lose a player in a moment of rage to cost us winning the GF two seasons running. With 12 men Wigan fought Saints providing worthy opponents until fatigue set in.
Proud of the effort of the 12 plus subs who did what they could to challenge Saints. Can you be as proud considering how your season ended?

Nah, Flower didn't have the correct temperment and just lost it. When it really mattered he couldn't handle the pressure and has ended Wigan's season in disgrace.
On a serious note, your comment implying we shouldn't be proud really highlights the difference between most RL fans, whatever team they support and yourself. Most RL fans support their teams and are proud of that whatever happens on the pitch. I am certain most Wigan fans are proud of that because of affinity with the Wigan club, the same goes for Giants fans, Wakey fans or whomsoever.
There are a few fans though that are only interested in winning things, all successful teams have fans like that, I don't think they get the same enjoyment as more traditional fans. Look at all the Bradford fans who have disappeared since their glory days, but those that remain are the real Heart and Soul of that club, proud they should be, just as I am proud to be a Giant.

| Spot on in all respects giantdee.
Just think following wane winding up players to such a degree Wigan have even managed to get RL mentioned on the 6 o clock news on radio 4. First time ever in all my years of listening. Now that's something to be proud of?? Or maybe not...

Flower has played in big games before the GF, namely last years GF and the WCC, he's a young man who lost his head in a highly emotional game, he's human, and in no way should this reflect on the effort and determination the other players showed in the GF.
You should only be proud if there's something to be proud of, not just being proud for the sake of it. I'd be proud of Wigan if I saw effort and desire, even if they did fall short, did you watch Hudds v Wigan or Hudds v Cats? Are you proud of such performances?

I guess part of it was because it happened as part of our showcase, the GF. I remember Wardle hitting Abblet perhaps? and seeing red. But playing at Hudds and not in the GF wouldn't generate as much publicity as Flower's attack on Lance.
Lets face it Wardle would have to sign for someone else to even have the opportunity to play in the GF.

He punched an unconscious man on the floor. He should have been banned for a year. It wasn't emotion, it was a calculated act of thuggery. That's why it generated publicity. Flower could have killed him. It wasn't anything to do with it being a Grand Final.

I'm not condoning what Flower did, but I do feel the extra media attention was due to the scale of the event; my opinion. Regardless of such I'm proud of the players that played on and well could have won the GF for a second year running if it wasn't for losing a man (rightly so) in the opening 5 mins.
I'm confident next season we'll be one of the strongest teams in SL, Saints also.
Can you say the same for Hudds?

Doesn`t mean Wigan would have won if Flower had been on the pitch, many times a team reduced to 12 pull off a win due to the rest lifting their game.
So Wigan ended up with sod all, and only the same points in the league as us, but we got the double over you, so that`s 2 - 1 in results, I reckon that`s us with the bragging rights.

We played quite poorly this year and finished 3rd, level with Wigan and 1 point behind Saints. We have a good record against most of the teams in the top 8, apart from Warrington. You don't need to worry your pretty little head about us we'll be fine.
Just be proud of the fact that your team lost to a team with no half backs, failed to score a point in 40 minutes and bombed chance after chance.
So you be proud of your chokers.
As for condoning what Flower did, you compared it to the Wardle incident. The two were not the same. The media coverage has nothing to do with it. Ablett was conscious and at all times able to retaliate and respond, he chose not to which is his prerogative. Flower hit Hohaia after he was knocked out and on the floor. I repeat he could have killed him. The fact you even think the two instances bear comparison shows either a lack of intelligence that would render you incapable of operating a keyboard or that you are making a pretty poor attempt at trolling.
Oh we went on to win the game against Leeds that Wardle was sent off in, plus one against Catalan when Robinson was sent off and two against Leeds when O'Donnell was sent off. So the "we were down to 12 men" excuse won't wash.
The reality is your team choked. Therefore they are no different to us. Last year don't matter. You are currently in the choking camp, we'll move over to make room for you. Would you like a cup of tea or a biscuit?

Did you watch the game? Played very well considering we had a man down, we're a team who last season won the GF and CC, and got to the GF this season, and came close to winning it all with 12 men, hardly a team of chokers. Ridiculous claim.

On day you'll understand in the playoff season when winning matters. Bragging rights? Didn't you watch our last game? It was embarrassing for you men.

| I just find it highly amusing that he is "proud" of something that someone else did. Wigan would perform the same way regardless of whether last son of Wigan was watching or not- why would you be proud of something you haven't influenced?
