If London is Athens, Yorkshire is Sparta, a tougher community and proud of it.:3676.jpg

Exactly! We beat ourselves!

I also thought some of the chanting by us yesterday prior to the realisation that we were getting pumped was ridiculous too. We were basically goading them like we were going to win. And these fans have seen how we play! Some of them are dumber than the players are playing, and that takes some doing.

We need to be more careful about what we chant and focus more on ourselves than the opposition.

Zero comments from the coaching staff about this game so far. The silence is deafening.

Anderson did have some comments --

Giants coach Paul Anderson admitted his side's performance "wasn't good enough" but was critical of Salford's aggressive approach, claiming they were guilty of a host of "cheap shots".

"It seemed that way," he said. "Broughy was knocked to the ground after he passed the ball.

"My disappointment once Broughy and Eorl (Crabtree) and Robbo (Luke Robinson) got knocked out was that, our blokes didn't rip in and absolutely knock 10 bells out of the bloke that did it because one cheap shot deserves another."

Not seen those comments on the web (Ah, found at skysports website). I have also made the point that we didn't do anything about it when these shots came in. We didn't fire in. There wasn't even a raised voice most likely. They didn't stick up for each other.

spot on dan, we just seem to let opposition bully us , koppy and crabtree just aren't aggressive type forwards in the mould of mason, griffin,o'donnell etc, even larne who is our most destructive forward doesn't come across as an enforcer.

but lets face it yesterday, we were outclassed and outenthused in every area of the pitch, i know we had disruptions but surely we could have coped with 1 or 2 positional changes but we just seemed to accept defeat too easily.
i don't mind losing when the opposition are better than us, which salford were, but i do mind losing without a fight, which we did, and thats the worse part, knowing that we haven't even put up a fight trying to win the game.

i suppose if we win the grand final then ultimately it won't matter, but when we get beat we get beat too easily, defensively we were a shambles yesterday and that was against a team lying 3rd from bottom with only 5 wins all season!

I thought we were extremely casual yesterday. Lots of little things done incorrectly. A lot of dropped ball, most of which was down to poor passing rather than catching. Ferres and Brough are suppossed to be our main leaders on the park but they were the most impatient.

Kick chase is normally very good for us, but they scored several tries on run back due to poor chase from us.

We did have a bit of disruption, but not convinced we knew what to do when Grix went off, we ended up changing the entire back line which I don't think worked at all (I think we should have put Broughton to FB, keeping the right as we started, Ta'ai, Ferres and Wardle has worked on the left before, instead we went makeshift everywhere and Salford exploited that.

Fair play to Salford who exploited our failings and their fans were in my opinion the best we have seen visit this season. None the less I still feel the key to their victory was our shortcomings.

agree with all of this, the makeshift part almost got us beat down at london too when connor went off injured but it didnt yesterday

As a Salford fan, you'll appreciate that the criticism that we were too aggressive is music to my ears.
Our pack has been beaten up for years ,including by you guys.
I've always really liked Eorl Crabtree but he now seems a bit of a gentle giant, and you obviously can't afford that if you're trying to mix it with Morley,Griffin and ,dare it say it,Lama Tasi

Awful, 80 minutes of absolute rubbish, there was a lack of effort or interest in the whole team from minute 1.....simply put the players couldn't be bothered to put any effort into that game and i dont give a shizzle about it doesn't matter ...it does !! games like that will turn fans off/against the team and when they need the support it wont be there.

Some of the half d attempts at tackling were embarrassing from pro Rugby League players...there was one try where a Salford players broke through a 3 man tackle on half way then another 2 man further up, in all of those he simply waltzed through the attempts...That is not acceptable to me. Salford hardly had to work for any of their scores, they walked over the line for 3 or 4.

Even when we did have the ball we tried scoring off every set again rather than building pressure....was it a case of our players looked at the league table and thought 2 points were already in the bag because they didn't make any effort on the field to try and win that game in my opinion.

I was angry with what i saw on Saturday, and its rare i get angry after a loss, but i simply could no find any positives at all, well maybe the scoreline flattered us a little if anything as it could easily have been a 50+ points defeat, angry because as has already been said we do not learn from our mistakes, angry because there was quite clearly a lack of effort and willingness to roll their sleeves up and work for something out of that game.

We have a pack of forwards who, Larne Patrick aside, may as well be in the Royal Ballet such is their impact to our team, are our juniors so bad that none of them can be deemed worthy of a 1st team place at the expense of some of the ones who are playing ?

Must give some credit to Salford too though as they exploited our weaknesses early on and made our players scared of them, they were better than us man for man and in every department and simply blew us away at times, although with the generosity of our defence they didn't need to puff that hard !!.

Awful performance and that is not acceptable to me

Huddersfield Giants - "We know our place":

Quote: Danril "Also, some of the stuff Salford dish out is out of order. They take playing it hard a step too far. Late hits, swinging arms and high stuff. Not good and I think the ref let them get away with too much yesterday not that this is any excuse for the result.'"

Not good, and the ref shouldn't let them get away with it. But the team shouldn't run to the ref for defence. They should step up to it. Not one player yesterday looked up for the fight. No mongrel - hasn't been for ages now.

Ironically, if Fartown's forwards had bigger balls, then the Salford guy would have been sorted out without the referee's involvement and they'd probably have finished the game with 13 men as he would have been quietened down and not needed sending off.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

With Leeds giving wakey points it guarantees Bradford will be relegated even if they got 6 points back

I would rather we stuck up for ourselves and lost sending out a message we aren't going to tolerate it.

Salford came, played like thugs, won, and their gaffer by all accounts had half a teacake for it.

We need to wise up. PLEASE! WISE UP!

How is that a silver lining? It makes no difference to us or what we're doing right now. Grow up.

More to the point is, with Saints and Leeds both getting beaten this weekend, if Giants had played to their capabilities, they would be only 2 points off top!

Salford won because they comprehensively outplayed you.
It was a tough game but you don't usually bottle it
