| Clear enough DG. Brough has a right to be angry. Bentham used the video ref many times, including one to check if the saints defender was tackled in the air, it's a NO brainer, use the video ref.

| From one angle it looked over, the other it didn't. Obviously huddersfield fans only take into account the former.
Huddersfield fans forget that brough had 3 previous attempts at a drop goal, and due to his own incompetence were charged down because he didn't get into a good enough position. Standing barely 2 metres back? What is this, amateur hour?
Huddersfield fans forget the disgraceful tackle from ferres which had the potential to not only end lomax's career, but render him disabled. Look at Mckinnon 2 weeks ago. Abhorrent from ferres.
Basically, huddersfield were on the rough end of a 50/50 call, but in the end, only have themselves to blame for losing the game.
Victim mentality. Poor old badly done to huddersfield.

How was it a clear DG when from one camera angle it appeared to drift wide, and the other it appeared to go over?
You could just as easily say it was clearly wide as it was clearly a DG. Why would bentham refer it when, from what he has seen, he feels certain it has gone wide? He might as well start referring every single decision in the entire game.
Maybe, if danny brough didn't spend the entire game berating the officials, they would be more open to his appeals?
Captain fantastic strikes again. Great leadership.

bentham goes to screen for 4 mins to look at lunts try yet not 1 second for broughs drop goal'"
Bentham didn't go to the screen for 4 mins. He went to the screen and the video ref took 4 minutes to make the call. I'd imagine if he went to the screen for the DG it'd have taken longer because both camera angles contradicted each other, so the VR would be screwed whichever decision he made. He gives it and you guys are happy with saints fans screaming bloody murder, he doesn't and it's vice versa, all the while the neutrals are screaming bloody murder whichever decision get's made.
It's a 50/50, the ref's damed if he does, damned if he doesn't. He went to the screen for the lunt try because he was uncertain, if he was uncertain about the DG he would have too, but based on his view he felt it went wide. Deal with it.

| There was 6/7 camera's at the ground the closest and best positioned was the one directly behind the sticks in the Fantastic Media stand, which shows clearly the ball went between the sticks.
There's nothing we can do about it now, it won't change the decision we lost and we have to deal with it, the ball went between the sticks, it wasn't given.

Can not argue with that and we as supporters deserve everything we get when a vast majority of our fans give Ferres a standing ovation for basically handing the Saints a chance to get back in a game that was slipping away from us.
Game after game we give away far more penalties than our opponents and that is what is really holding us back.

If that was a fair penalty then he failed to give about fifty more during the match. I wonder why he chose to ignore the others and give that specific one?
You also have to wonder why he referred every try of yours to the VR and why Smith disallowed your first on the grounds of a knock on when the ball came backwards off a Saints player. I dare say he'd have disallowed the drop goal if he'd have got the referral. Something very iffy about the whole setup today.
Why was a Huddersfield player penalised for being hit? Why wasn't the voluntary tackle penalised? The list could go on.

It doesn't matter how many times he missed, if one went over he deserved it! No idea why Saints fans keep bringing up the fact that he had 3 charged down, like that somehow justifies Bentham disallowing the fourth.

All season decisions by video referee have proved inconclusive with us suffering against Leeds and today but especially on Sky there have been decisions where even with 4 or 5 camera angles nothing can be proved and referees are bottling it by going to the screen and if we are going to keep it at least go with the Australian or RU version where the referee gives a decision and if it can not be proven otherwise his call gets given.

That wouldn't have benefitted you today as Bentham had already called a knock on before going upstairs. I just couldn't believe it when Smith started saying "Yeah he's definitely lost it" - surely the direction and mechanism by which it is lost are what's important!

| Yep, it was a goal and if he would have been playing for saints wire leeds or wigan - you betcha it was a goal. Refs are predisposed to favour the big teams - happens all the time. If a saints player did the Ferris tackle - it would have been on report - the refs cop out - we had two totally outrageous dangerous "assaults" that happened 5 feet in front of the ref leaving players injured against - both put on report - both players guilty - yet the ref was the only person in the ground that didn't see it.
Such a shame the game is in the pocket of the big clubs.

| first of all...yes we lost! Yes Ferres should av been sent off, even tho there was no malice and no intent to injure lomax but he still deserved to be sent off, it was just one of them tackles, and im sure brett is as gutted as us fans are, he is not a malicious player.
Without creating a arguement about the reffing decisions for 78 mins, Broughs DG should have been given, it was clear as day, clear on the replays, we was robbed of a chance of progressing in to the next round and will lose money for this, what will Phil Bentham get? a slap on the wrist and dont do it again! if i made a mistake like that in my job id be sacked!! But we played well so dont let the result detract from the performance (i know that dont get us in the next round) onwards and upwards
Dont think the protest that was mentioned on twitter for the Hull game will be worth it unless we get the hull fans involved, lets have the whole stadium doing something to sort out refereeing in general not just out error from the idiot bentham as im sure every club has had a bad decicision go against them.

| Firstly for obvious reasons my preferred result today would have been a Huddersfield win.
At first I thought the drop goal was clearly over. The more I watch it I honestly (and it pains me to say it) don't think it did. It was inconclusive at best.
The reason you lost today was poor discipline and a poor effort at a tackle from Ferres.

Not forgetting we did not go for 2 early in the 2nd half then coughed the ball up on the 3rd or 4th tackle. The kicking tee was bought on so I am guessing Baloo wanted to go for 2 and Brough made the decision not to.

| I've re-watched it numerous times and changed my opinion, I don't think it went over. It's drifting out all the way after starting in line. By the time it gets to the posts, which is later than seems from the camera behind, I think it's drifted slightly too far, still an unbelievably tough decision though with countless replays.
